After being unimpressed with PS4 games on show , I think this article sums it up for me ..
Without obvious graphical perks and the same fps shooter , footies games being predictably respawned , I think the consoles in general are dead .

I don't think so. I remember them doom-mongering last time, when 360 and PS3 were coming out. We were looking at the £60 game, apparently, in order to break even on the larger titles. I think they release these snippits to see if the market will take a higher-priced game. They'll probably try to start with, then drop the prices back to £40 for new releases.

Actually, with the PS4 having an 8 thread X86 CPU,it might means instead of ancient engines being used in PC games,we might quad cores being better utilised with newer engines.
It is pathetic when there are PC games, which are so horribly optimised, they need overclocked Core i5 CPUs,since only one thread is massively loaded.
Also, another thing is that the sub £150 graphics card market is not moving fast enough IMHO. The current £140 to £150 graphics cards need to be at least GTX580 level performance IMHO and they are not unless you overclock them.
At the curren trate,I think I am better off waiting until the next generation cards are released!!![]()
well at least that makes me feel better about the one I still have from last year...
Im not sure what to do at all about pc thing... there are some good games but nothing I havent seen before really - and thats what I find depressing about that article ..
I can see why folk say F it and just end with ipads etc
If its the same ol same you tend to go back to those addictive simple games that dont require much graphic power any way.
You almost need something really big to capture peoples imagination again ... ( esp after 3DS / kinetic crap )

its written by bioware - so instead of being graphically awesome , they`ll make games about exploring your own homosexuality....
killzone says `hello` as to what graphics will look like on the PS4 ; shame bioware are being left behind
I should have said "PC exclusive" games!
You mean like the Gamebryo/Creation engine,or a number of other engines which seem to really put a huge load on a single thread?? Even WoW and a number of MMORPGs show the same behaviour and a number of RTS games. It is flipping annoying and some of them are not old either.
In the end it means people have to throw money at overclocked Core i5 CPUs,etc when a much cheaper CPU should be doing the job.
The games you are talking about are multi-platform ones which use engines which can thread well like CE3,idTech5,FB1.5,FB2 and UE3 upto a degree. Too many PC exclusive games do not and even in the case of Skyrim the PC version had horrible optimisation with X87 code being used.
If anything PC gamers complain too much about multi-platform games, when it seems mainly down to them why we have engines which can use between 4 to 8 threads.
Depends if you got the RROD or YLOD![]()
The golden age of Consoles was with the NES to the PS1. After that computers started to become a lot more common for everyone and powerful enough for PC gaming now everyone pretty much owns a computer, so why would you want a console?
Consoles from what I see is pretty much a cash cow, you have to pay for the console itself, pay for a overpriced game then pay for a live subscription to play game online then pay the internet costs on top.
PC gaming costs more to start with, but it allows you to keep upgrading as time goes by, you don't need a live subscription to play online, the games are cheaper or free to play and the only other cost is the internet bill.
Personally, I see consoles true value is for family fun where you can play 4 player games at Christmas or when a group of friends get together.
The only reason I would want a console today is to play some Japanese Visual Novel games that are only released on the PS3 or Vita etc, but that's due to my Otaku nature, I would never play a FPS or other game on them. :/
Not sure why everyone says console games are really expensive now... They were around £50 in the NES days, they're still around £50 now. Except of course £50 isn't worth what it was then. If game prices had risen with inflation we'd be paying £100 a copy.
Yes, not cheap , but people have less money now and the lure of other even free options
The other problem is the lack of technology does not scale with price.. i.e. look at the difference between NES AND SNES , then look at latest PS3 games like Tomb Raider and one of the PS4 titles..
Doesnt matter how well the game is done , it still the same ol thing ..
Add that to the industries dependence on churning repeat hits with no innovation and you got your death warrant - no one is gonna pay £50 or £30 or even prob £10 to play a game that reminds of something from 10 yrs ago - I wouldnt and wont..
Im also sick of FPS rail games and pretty much everything ive seen from big companies , the real innovation ive seen is from small indies like limbo which id happily pay more for and help.
Its not so much graphics either its the way you interact with the game too and how it interacts with you.. things like 3D for example which had people drooling at first have been a a biglet down .
Will I see it in this lifetime - its debatable ...
Ipads and Iphones offer cheaper options and the novelty of playing a game on a new interference even if the game itself is not new it has that novelty and cool factor that pcs and consoles do not .
You can go outside and look cool and make fashion statement with an iphone , but you cant do it by telling your friends you play games on a console or pc unless they do it too.
BAH - I bitch a lot dont I ?
BUT ITS TRUE !!
