Nice to see that the game finally has information on it again, after being in the dark for so long. Fingers crossed they can make it at least worthy of the title.

Been looking forward to this for a while, looks like they are putting enough into it to make it worthwhile.

    Re: Thief reboot coming

I really liked the original Thief, less so the sequels, hope they make it a proper thief game and not have it too QTE packed or combat oriented. I liked that you could just sneak around and do things on your own terms.

    Re: Thief reboot coming

Having played lots of fan missions, I think every mission should have be designed so that it can be 'ghosted'. That is get through the mission without even getting anyone's 'suspicion level' up. By all means allow knockouts or swordfights but a proper Thief should a cat-burglar.

We talking about the same games? Thief 1 was far too combat-heavy (i.e. all the undead levels). Thief 2 was much more sneaking and thievery.

Of course, they added a bunch of sneak-based levels to the Thief Gold re-release, so if you played only that, you might not realise how combatty it once was

I've just finished 'Dishonored', which has achievements for getting through levels - or even the whole game - as a 'Ghost'. Reminded me of Thief a great deal...

Me too - hopefully they can do the exact same thing for that series.

DX:IW and Thief 3 both came out around the same time, and both were awful games compared to the previous entries in the series)my ranty posts about this on hexus are probably still there somewhere!)..but then DX:HR I really quite enjoyed (not finished it yet but that's not through lack of enjoyment)

A new thief that goes back to Thief 2 style gameplay, without all the sacrifices that we had to make for consoles a few years ago..now that is an exciting prospect. Fingers crossed they do it justice

    Re: Thief reboot coming

Thief 3 is the only one I've played and I loved it - only bad aspect was the tiny levels, which was extremely annoying when trying to move around.

Both games suffered primarily from a lack of RAM on the Xbox 1.

If Thief 4 is targeting the PS4, the RAMmiest console ever, that could be a problem of the past.

Thief 1 & 2 really benefited from expansive levels
