Do you already know which next gen console your getting??

With Sony releasing some very juicy details about the ps4 (I think the 8gb ddr5 ram sounds unreal), and Microsoft yet to release anything solid, do you already know which one you will get??

Are you sticking with the same brand you have now for familiarity or tempted to switch depending on Xbox specs?

    Me, I had:
ps1 (loved it even when I had to turn it upside to make it work)
Xbox (unleashX, xbmc, mame, enough said)
    360 (cheaper and out first)

and very tempted by the ps4!!

New xBox, probably. Microsoft have got it spot on with the Live service, so unless they screw that up (or Sony pull a rabbit from the proverbial hat) I think that would decide it.

I think it is unlikely that the hardware between the two is going to be disproportionately different (they are, after all, going to run a lot of the same games).

Well my only console is a gamecube, which is still going strong and a good laugh, but I don't think I'll be sticking to brand PC is where I'm at for the forseeable, though if Sony can finally design a comfortable game pad I could be tempted, depending on what driving games are available.

Re: Do you already know which next gen console your getting??

We bought a PS3 for the boys to have in their bedroom. Setting it up has horrible and the parental (no)control settings are a joke. I will not be buying a PS4. The xbox has space in the living room only because I like playing burn out 3 and 4 so I doubt that I'll be rushing out to replace that and I've been left totally underwhelmed by the WiiU. I guess that means none for me.

Re: Do you already know which next gen console your getting??

    So far I've had a PS1, PS2, and PS3, but I don't currently have any plans to buy a next-gen console. Unless there's a must-have console only title, I don't think I'll bother.

Althought I own a 360, I've always felt it was a 'kids console'. Hence I use my ps3 more.

I'll just buy either or both, when a game I want comes out.

Im waiting until they actually release the details on the real specs each console is going to use, but if the rumours confirm to be true, ill just keep my PS3..

None of them. Same old rehashed games with tarted up graphics. Console games are really boring now gameplay wise. I may have a look at the Steambox when it comes out but it looks as if gaming will be disappearing in the rear view mirror of my personal history.

Re: Do you already know which next gen console your getting??

I've had PS1, 2 and 3, and if I were to get another console, it would probably be a PS4, but I don't think that's going to happen. I've still got PS3 games I haven't finished yet, and at my current rate, PS5 will be out before I do that...

No, I haven't made up my mind, and am in no hurry.

Critical to me will be some decisions over DRM, always-on net connections, etc. I am waiting to see what happens before I decide IF I will upgrade, never mind what to.

Steambox, aka I'll be sticking with PCs. I've got a Wii, but it was only used for gamecube purposes, until I had a play around with Dolphin. I've got an Xbox 360 that's used solely for Rockband. I've got other games for the xbox but they're all unplayed. I just can't seem to get into console games the same way that I can on a PC!

Re: Do you already know which next gen console your getting??

I'll need more info about them both before deciding. As someone else said, Xbox have pretty much got it spot on with Live, so that could sway it again. Wait and see I suppose..

Re: Do you already know which next gen console your getting??

I waited a while before going from PS2 to PS3 and I think if I do get a new console it'll be the PS4 but I dont think I'll even bother unless some fantastic exclusive games come out. I don't really need it as a media center and my PC is keeping my attention when it comes to gaming for the past couple of years.

I would possibly be interested in getting a steambox just to be able to play super meat boy or such like on the TV without having to drag my pc across the room or run stupidly long cables. That purchase depends on the price though. Lets just hope they do a console pricing with it and subsidise the hardware with the software sales. Unlikely but you can hope

Re: Do you already know which next gen console your getting??

I am really thinking about the PS4, I've not owned a Playstation since the original but I have not been as suitably impressed with the Xbox over the last few years and the PS3 has. A steam box seems another great idea but Price is Key, either option I will probably wait up to 6 months after launch.

Re: Do you already know which next gen console your getting??

Listening to the rumours, MS want the "Xbox" to be the full home hub package by integrating freeview or including software for the "Xbox" to talk to Sky / Virgin media boxes.

Not a bad idea, record straight from the TV onto the xbox, then being able to stream it to various SmartGlass devices sounds good, as does the mandatory Kinect 2. If everyone has it then the developers will invest more time on it to incorporate base functionality into normal titles...

Not sure wht Sony have planned though since I already have an Xbox 360 and like it, I will also get the next version.
