    Defiance

Does anyone here play Defiance? Is it any good?

I started watching the TV show over the weekend and am really enjoying it, and the game looks pretty good too. I like Trion Worlds (Rift is still one of my favourite MMO's) so I doubt the game will be rubbish, but I have been bitten before and reviews (not that I rely on them) seem to be all over the place.

Wondered if anyone has any first hand experience with it?

My brother loves the TV series and raves about the game. He said it's best to go into it with a group of friends who also watch the TV series as it can get quite boring by yourself.

So - got friends who play?

From the reviews it seems to boil down to a reasonable mmo but nothing outstanding as mmo's go.

I got it a while back on Steam sale, I quite enjoyed it with a few mates. I like the combat in this game and when everyone gathers for the Arkfall battles.

    Re: Defiance

I've been playing it for a couple of months since it was on sale on Steam. The game story is a bit weak I think, I finished in about 6 hours in total. There are lots of optional side missions, all of which help increase your 'EGO' score (the form of 'levelling' used in the game). There are lots of achievements to tick off, which I quite enjoy doing, and there are 'mini game' sections which involve timed racing in vehicles, shooting, etc. What's a bit disappointing for me is that although it's supposed to me a co-op game, the actual co-op parts are fairly small. There are about a dozen co-op missions which involve four players at a time, but other than that, it's more like a single-player game that happens to occur in an online world. Most people playing it are just doing their own thing, rather than working together. It has its fun moments, but it's also quite repetitive.

    Re: Defiance

I too started watching the tv series this weekend and remember seeing it in on sale a while ago and have added it to my wishlist, however I won't have anyone to play with. Is it the sort of game you can wander round and enjoy by yourself like fallout?
