Where is the Both option?
Or the "don't care" option
good points there :(
Lets see what is being offered by each first ;)
Although if the current status (i.e. PS4 = gaming only, XBO = home hub) remains, then I hope MS wins, just because they are trying to offer a lot more than just another console.
Thing is tho the PS4 wont have any less features than the PS3... and I already use that as a "Hub" for streaming music from my iphone, watching Netflix, BBC iplayer etc....
Dont really see why anyone would get arroused about having multimedia features when they have been on the current consoles for half a decade.
Smart TV's havent really changed the way I watch TV as much as I thought so buying something that lets me watch TV..... On my TV offers up no more than a few cheap excuses for Xzibit memes..
That's fine if you want a games console to be a home hub. Personally, I want a games console for, well .... games.
As for which wins the war, like Spank, I don't care. I'll buy either if they offer me what I want at a price I'm prepared to pay. Right now, I'm not planning on either.
For me its definitely PS4, 360 went off RROD about a year ago now so have been using PC and PS3 for gaming.
Going to stick with Sony, have boat loads of stuff on PSN for my Phone and PS3 so it all ties in nicely together, may as well stick with the platform I am already on.
I voted PS4 but hadn't actually read the question!
I think the XBOX will win purely because of the dominance from the current gen, between me and my mates it's about 5-1 for 360 owners over PS3 and the PS3 owners have both.
I'd like to see the PS4 win it but don't think the PlayStation name means much to kids these days. If I eventually get a next gen console it'll definitely be the PS4.
Xbox dominance of the current Gen? PS3 out sold Xbox 360 in the UK but it's not that far apart.
At the moment iirc companys are reporting much higher demand of the PS4 for preorders.
In time though i think with microsofts recent anouncment that they will close.
It was Xbox in the UK with the cheaper price tag that went ahead in sales with the 360 and over time the more expencive PS3 caught up.
There will be plenty that end up buying both.
Will see how they turn out closer to release date, since Xbox have already planned to change there console due to the backlash. Leaning towards the PS4 though.
So you think each console will do better than the other?
I think that Sony have done the right thing in making the PS4 a system that can be programmed using the x86 instruction set, both feature new AMD GPUs and each will have some exclusive titles, so for me it will probably be a case of waiting until about 12 to 18 months after they launch before I decide on getting one, and I will decide on the basis of what has the best exclusives and/or the console with the best feature set. So I could pick either console, unless Sony do some stupid proprietry memory card type of deal as they often like to do that.
I don't know... I can't see myself getting both though it's not impossible. The PS4 has the hardware spec advantage, but whether the software follows suit is another question. It would be foolish to right off the XBO at this point, I have no doubt MS are furiously working behind the scenes for a massive counter attack of some sorts... MS have 4 months until launch, so lets see what happens.
If VGChartz is to be trusted, than the PS3 edged the 360 worldwide. Which is quite surprising to me - isn't it like the first time that a console that started in the last place for a long time managed to catch up?
I'll also note that dominance from one gen to another doesn't seem to mean a whole lot really. The PS1 stomped the competition despite Nintendo/Sega dominance till then. And while Sony managed to retain the crown with the PS2, Nintendo went from 3rd place to 1st in the present generation. Anything can happen it seems.
