Thumbs up How to take screenshots while playing games.

Hello everyone. today i wanted to tell you a way to take screen shots of your games while you are playing the game.some people already know this but hope this helps to amateurs. some games are already provide this utility and some games are not and the "print screen utility is not support" most times.so we have to take the support of third party software for take help.so i will show you some amazing little softwares that help you to take this service

    1) Fraps

-this is the most amazing software that offer you free service to screen capture and screenshots also this software provide you the Fps(frames per second) rate.so you can screenshot the best moments in the game(according to graphics). to download this software use this link

    - after install you get the start up icon like this

-to setting the screenshot utility you have to goto screenshot tab

in here you can change the
    1.screen capture key
    2.save location
    3.image type
    etc etc.
so once you complete the settings now all you have to do is minimize the software and play the game.when you feel its a good time to take a photo . just press the screen capture key and it will automatically take a screenshot of the game and save in your save location.

but some times Fraps not help for screen capturing on some games. so for that there are a simple utility(screenshot utility) that provide you the same benefits but you need to register it before end the trial period.here is the page that have download link.

-same like the previous software just have to install

-then it will open as a quick launch icon

-you have to configure it also for better performance. and use the best image quality if you like (i suggest use the setting on the image)

finally you have to play the game and press the hotkey for take screen shots.
thats it hope this will help for anyone who struggle with screen capturing thanks

I always like it when people post guides, someone might learn something from it, so thanks for the work.

Steam users can also press F12 during games to screenshot & save to your profile (to be uploaded etc later).

Re: How to take screenshots while playing games.

I use Paintshop to do my screenshots outside of Steam must admit, done so for years but Fraps is also a good little program for recording videos, checking your actual framerate and doing your screen grabs.

Another good one especially for videos is MSI Afterburner which has OSD for framerate and records some nice HD videos which can end up huge in size.

Thanks for taking the time to do a guide here

Re: How to take screenshots while playing games.

Yeah, Afterburner is primarily a utility for voltage / fan / overclocking etc.

It also has an addon called OSD Server which allows you to record videos of games, this is done via a hybrid type version of Rivatuner.

You can also take screenshots with it in bmp, jpg & png formats.

Thing is though Fraps makes it much easier and has been around a lot longer, its such a small utility and it does a good job

Actually in most games it does work, however you're right about not being able to take more than one and overall it can be a bit awkward esp if the game is one that doesn't like alt-tab'ing

That being said most half way good pc games will have a screenshot button built into the keyboard controls, if it doesn't then you're probably playing a bad console or ipad port

I don't think a single game I have installed doesn't work with it.
Not only that, but most of them allow you take take multiple screenshots easy as the game will dump them to a directory as you press it.

Nice little guide. Hopefully a few people will find it useful.
Also, worth noting that a number of titles actually have a screenshot system that you can bind a key to.
I personally prefer to use either the built-in facility, or 'Print Screen' button and alt-tab + paste. I'm not a fan of installing anything on my machine that I don't have to.
