They have hyped it so much now anyway, they would look like utter morons if they gave it a bad review.

hmm wonder if PC Gamer promised a good review for getting the exclusive like they normally do.

    Well ive read the "review".
    Total rubbish.
Smells of nothing more than fanboy trash talk. Hardly any points saying how things could be improved, problems with the game, or just about anything subjective. Its along the lines of "HL2 R0xors UR B0xorz!!11one LOLOLOL" and not a lot more.

Problem is, to accuse them of fabricating a good review is only possible if the game is bad. So i would much rather PCGamer review was correct and the game was good. And to be honest if it was rubbish they would've loved to slate it in a review.

    I have it pre-ordered with play.com.

I think that PC gamer are generally right with their reviws. But they have reviewed games in the past, which have failed to appear for several months after the review.

Yep, which explains why I stopped buying gaming mags (except Edge) a couple of years ago. Every game seems to get 2 years+ of fanboi hype from the mags whilst it's in development, and then a review score based on what they think people will want to hear - or how the mag are prepared to overhype it for a front-cover 'exclusive'. It's all about cash, as we know. Honesty? What's that? :-(

Proper opinions of games? Use the web. Gamerankings, Gamespot, IGN. Sure, even they cock-up once in a while, but they are free, and god knows you can read other opinons from 50 other sites of every game just to get a balance. At least that's my approach these days (plus Edge mag., who generally are very good - except for way, way, way overhyping Halo on the XBOX.)
