About LinkBacksare there any good games on the PS2 where you just walk along and punch people! like the old classic 'Streets of rage' it would need to be a 2 player game as my misses is into that sort of stuff

Not really anything in the same vain as those on PS2.
Viewtiful Joe - not 2 player sadly but fantastic.
Bouncer - Not great but probably very cheap now (one of 1st ps2 games)
Then there is stuff like Way of the Samurai, which is essentially a beat em up but as part of an adventure. Dynasty Warriors 4 which is a sort of Beat em up/strategy game.
Devil May Cry 1 & 2 again single player.
Then there are the Lord of the Rings games which are beat em ups.
a second on viewtiful joe, i have it for my gamecube
Postal 2 on the PC, not multiplayer though.
