So is anyone planning on getting this?
I'm going to get it a few months down the line when they've fixed a lot of the bugs. It does look a lot better than the mod though!
Is this still massively buggy? I know its Alpha but is it unplayable?
I think ill wait till it comes down in price in a sale. I hate playing games in alpha state.
Yeah i know, For some reason i have a big urge to buy it now. Really want to get into the game so i get sniped from some guy in a tower who loots my gear that i've been scavanging for hours :L lol
That is unlikely to happen for quite some time. It's selling extraordinarily well despite it's Alpha state and it will likely go up in price once it reaches beta/final.
The Rock Paper Shotgun stories are really selling me on this at the moment (interesting read if you haven't seen them already), just wish the bugs were sorted so I could have the all clear to go ahead and purchase.
I will be buying DayZ Standalone soon, they will be going into beta by the end of the year and who knows when they will up the price from £19.99? I do however watch a lot of YouTube videos regarding DayZ, it is playable but if you buy it there is one thing you should know.. If being chased by a Zombie, don't hide in a house just now as they can run through the walls and closed doors! Pretty funny really, but I am sure that will be fixed later down the line. Many people I have heard prefer it to the Mod. Yeah there is no cars etc (yet) but it's all about survival.
I got the standalone. Mod is better for the moment
I've had it for a over a month and its pretty good. They've already updated it a couple of times to add new loot and apply fixes etc. Other than the zombie's walking thru walls I haven't noticed any serious bugs that weren't in the mod already (disappearing loot springs to mind).
I haven't played the mod in quite a while as I got really fed up with all the cheating and the pain of trying to get on a server that was running the same version as you/ updating the mod and so on.
At least with the Standalone on Steam you don't have these problems, just hit play and you're off
Also the new features have really helped foster different gameplay (someone mentioned the RPS articles - great example). I've bumped into several players who just waved and went on their way - unheard of in the mod in my experience. Having the loot be damaged when you kill someone really makes a lot of players think twice, although there are still plenty of bandits to contend with.
For an alpha its really playable and I've been impressed with the pace of updates so far. I've spent £20 on worse games that were allegedly 'finished'.
Hi George, whats your steam? Should team up sometime, im getting kinda bored of wandering by myself. My username is biscuiteer.
The game still has a way to go before its ready for full release but as George said, i have paid more for 'finished' games. Lot of potential for good laughs on this!
I find the same thing, I only played it once and thought it was mega boring on my own. Could be fun with friends but i'm kind of sorry I bought it now
Hi Biscuit - its georgeousxxx (i know, don't ask) - I'm not on much right now due to work etc but add me and I'll catch up with you when I am on
EDIT - Same goes to you Ghostbusta, just saw your post
Speaking of having a laugh I just popped on here to post this:
