Thumbs up Desert Rats Vs. Afrika Corps

Got this info from blues news, seems monte cristo have decided to publish a real game instead of the rubbish strat stuff they usually chuck out. Desert Rats Vs. Afrika Corps, looks very similar to blitzkrieg and the forthcoming codename: panzers (both from www.cdv.de), hopefully it will be a bit more 'generals' in the action dept.

    good 2 min trailer:

At first, it sounds incredible that the Waffen-SS fielded a unit of British volunteers. In reality, the British Freecorps was a motley rabble of scarcely any propaganda value, much less military value.

British government minister Leopold Stennet Amery, Secretary of State for India and member of Prime Minister Winston Churchill's war cabinet had a son named John Amery. John Amery was a self-styled fascist who fled to Hitler's Germany at the start of the war. John Amery provided some propaganda value for the Germans, although he was more interested in living in high style and hobnobbing with Nazi bigwigs in Berlin than making any serious effort at undermining the British war effort. John Amery suggested the idea of a volunteer legion of British POWS early on in the war, but it wasn't until 1943 that the Waffen-SS expressed interest in the project, creating the "Legion of St. George."

The SS recruiters visited the POW camps and tried multiple persuasive techniques. Despite promises of cash bonuses, limited freedom and access to prostitutes, the SS recruitment efforts were essentially a failure. The 30 turncoats and opportunists that eventually volunteered for the unit were too few to make a military impact and too unreliable to make much of a propaganda impact.

The British Freecorps spent most of its existence training, BFC members received a maximum of fifteen years in prison to no sentences at all, depending on the level of their involvment and the circumstances by which they joined.

I was just pointing it out in case you haden't realised and to pass the time until the DL ocmpleted 34% atm. They neevr had an active role but at least one of them was sentacned to death and the majority were ex members of the british facist party or criminals who didn't have much to look forwards o back in the UK or in their POW camps

most simply signed up to get out the pow camps and spend the rest of the war swaning round germany on the pull. not a bad way to spend the war.

    edit:

anyway the french were bigger traitors to us than the BFC ever were.

Well I've just watched the trailer 4 times and it's awesome, I think I have to buy this game when it comes out even if it involves selling a kidney
