Dear oh dear, my own fault cos I forgot to do the pre-load last week.
    But this is not amusing

You forgot to do the pre-load completely, the idea of PRE-load is to..... PRE load it

But not really surprising the steam servers are down tbh.

BTW you have some dirt in the background of that screenshot

yeap ... Steams gone all pete tong

Shame really, you would have thought valve would have the servers by now to keep up with demand, and if this is anything to judge them by then I forsee a whole load of issues for the next few days.

    http://www.steampowered.com/status/status.html

    http://www.steampowered.com/status/content_servers.html

The above show all the speeds show the servers should be fine but a few workmates are still waiting for it to decrypt on their day off

The unlocking side seems to be ok, it just looks like it's the d/loading of files that has gone "the shape of the pear"

Got HL2 on CD today, just gone through Steam install, poped in CD key and i've got a "Steam are currently unable to process your transaction due to a large influx of recent applications" error.

So i won't be playing HL2 for a while yet then

pfffft, if people really will 1) not pre-load 2) not even have an account in the first place, then they're being silly. it's not that far different from the usual launch day troubles of any game

Was to be expected really. Most people people buying HL2 have probably never even bothered with Steam before today.
