    Question HL2 - Spec Req ?

    Hey All

I was looking at some screen shots of Half-Life 2 the other day and noticed that the graphics quality seems to be a whole lot better than HL 1
What kind of system spec do you think will be needed to run this game at a healthy speed ?

    Cheers, Dave

486, 2meg RAM, 50meg HD space should do it.

Seriously though, a PC above 1gighz should manage to do it on low settings provided its a "ok" graphics card as an educated guess.

As I understand it the absolute base gfx card is a TNT2! That will be with all special effects gubbins off and is likely to look pretty average as you can imagine. All the latest options should be in the game though so those with V8-powered graphics and thermo-nuclear CPUs should definitely see the benefits.

    Safe system would be...

    Barton 2500+ (AXQEA Stepping)
    Radeon 9600pro 128mb
    2 x 256mb Corsair/OCZ/GeIL/HyperX 3500 (which ever floats you)

SLK-7 on the cpu to get some gd o/c out of the core.

I've heard they were aiming for a PIII 700 for the CPU side of things.

Not sure about the other components though...

I cant see HL2 being bundled with graphics cards so soon. I'd be VERY surprised if that was true.

They are going to, a mate on msn told me earlier, supposedly a massive rush to try and get more top end cards sold.

HardOCP have a quick news item regarding HL2 included benchmarking. Sounds like it will allow people to see how well the game will run :

"...it looks as though we are going to have one hell of a benchmark based on Half Life 2...and possibly soon. "
