Half Life: Source in the UK? Where can I get it?

Went to Game today to get the collector's edition DVD of HL2 in order to get Half Life: Source, and was told that it was only released in the states?! WTF? Surely the numpty in the shop was talking b*ll*cks? Mind you, they were trying to charge 35 quid for the standard package (i.e. with CS:Source). At this rate I'll not be in the clan till after Christmas.

Thanks Agent. I checked out play.com as well, but they don't go into details about what version they supply. I really want to try out the revamped original, but not enough to get a credit card for one game

Get it on Steam, you pay the same price but get Valves back catalogue for free.

And you can back up to DVD if you like

Yes, but only by using a credit card, which I don't really want to do

edit If I buy the standard box from game, will I also be able to get HL:Source off Steam for nowt?

i don't think so. hl source and dod source are not in the "bronze" package, which i think the retail box mirrors.

Something I thought might be worth mentioning... I was browsing the Steam forums earlier, and someone mentioned that if you have the retail version of HL2 there is no way at the moment to upgrade to any of the other packages... So to get HL:Source you'd have to buy one of the packages that includes it...

That's crap I was going to go out in half an hour and get it, but I don't want to be left with the buyer's remorse of missing out on the rest of the packages. Mind you, 30 quid is bad enough as it is

Steam's Silver package is easily the best option

Heard rumours on another forum that Value intend to let Bronze Package and Retail customers to upgrade, for a small fee... Rumour says about £6.... No idea how much truth there is to the rumour though... We'll have to wait and see.....

I got bronze version "free" with my ati card. I just paid $10 and upgraded to silver to get dod and hl1. Im sure valve will offer same thing to retail punters. I wouldnt get too bothered by hl1 source though as it looks just the same as the original but with sexy new water.

Play & Amazon's versions are just the bronze package.. (my flat mates bought from there)... so I bought the Silver package through steam, used their GCF's .. & I'm sending my copy back to play when it arrives eventually.
We cannot choose what we are.. but what are we but the sum of our choices?

Right then, sorry for the wait...Collector's Edition comes out on the 10th, but you may need to pre-order it to get it on day of release (depends how many copies Valve gets out, i wouldnt have thought it was an issue though)
