First hint at possibility of PSP piracy/emulation

    From today's IGN article:

Fully downloadable games? Homemade application support that allows the young generation to flex its budding creative muscle on the cutting edge of portable hardware? We'll have to wait for further clarification from SCE on the matter.
If anything along the lines of a developer kit comes along, you can guarantee the PSP will be come the best portable emulation device EVER. It should be able to run everything from NES to N64

Games were apparently running straight from the memory stick at E3 and other public showings too, so its possible from a hardware perspective, doubt the function will be included in the final of course

    Exciting times

*I posted this at ocuk too in case you saw it there

I still have one somewhere, admittedly i've only played it a total of 2 hours since owning it, and thats thanks to the streets of rage 2 port on it. Im looking forward to getting rid of it when i can play its entire game library on PSP

Not much point in selling them is there? I've left mine in the loft because it didn't seem worth the fuss to sell it..

    Same with the GBA..

Although I guess if the PSP sucks I can sell it on for a stupid profit on ebay seeing as I've got a Jap one on pre-order..

Also, can you guys describe why your interest died when you got a GBA? I'd just like to know if its for the same reason as me

well, nothing will defeat the gb original

i quite like gba's but not enough to get one...

ive got my eye on the psp it looks great but who knows wat will happen until they launch it

one thing that excited me about the gba was that it seemed like a portable snes in a way, but the snes games out on gba dont quite have that same magical feel, perhaps thats just me...

The GBA was let down by not having backlight screen. The SP fixed this and has great design the DS will be even better. The games on the PSP look fantastic though but so far just seem to be ports of PS2/PS1 games. And if piracy and emulation is possible with PSP it will probably boost sales.

Now that you meantion it I havent looked at the DS's piracy/emulation capabilities or hints towards it. But i'll leave that to the GBA crew as they did a lot of work on the GBA and got some good results. Unfortunately, poor GBA never achieved emulating a Genesis/Mega Drive neither snes.

If I can get a N64 and Genesis emulator for the PSP I'll buy one.

Its only...Sony's first portable gaming device

    More info here:

    http://www.playstation.jp/psp/

It has in theory more power than PS2, but they likely wont make games graphics heavy in fear of it using too much battery etc.
