Elgato capture card delay

My younger brother's elgato capture card for his xbox 360 has massive lag delay on it. Is there anyway to reduce/remove the delay? Any tips or advice regarding this best way to use the card would be much appreciated.

How is it set up?

It is plugged into an xbox 360 via hdmi and connected to an mac pro via a usb cable and then the xbox is played off the macbook pro with the default controller.

In which case you'll experience lag. You're viewing the processed video - I don't believe there's any way of fixing that.

Is there any way to set it up so you are not view the processed video for example can you look at the unprocessed video on a monitor or TV some how?

yep got two hdmi cables one running to the tv and one to the elgato and now it works becasue he can watch the unprocessed video on the elgato. He just didn't understand how it was suppose to work.
