Re: Grim Fandango Remastered
Ooooo didn't know it was out today, need to pick it up ASAP :D
Re: Grim Fandango Remastered
Grab it from GOG, it is available right now and is cheaper than Steam :)
It is truly an epic game that draws you in with the setting and style, this game deserves the status it has and is a genuine all time classic.
Re: Grim Fandango Remastered
Yeah I loved the original and when I heard this was getting remastered I got all excited (and then forgot about it, as you do). I'll have a look when I get home tonight... there goes my planned early night.
Re: Grim Fandango Remastered
I like the idea of being able to switch between the old and new textures, going to grab it tonight I think :)
Re: Grim Fandango Remastered
I will grab some pics after I have taken the dog out and loaded the dishwasher so you can see the difference :)
Re: Grim Fandango Remastered
Wait, maybe I am remembering this wrong, but wasn't there a lot of fanfare that this remastered edition was going to be for PS4 only and not coming to the PC? I guess it's another exmaple of a "timed console exclusive" like Titanfall (or whatever it was that did the same). Not that I am complaing; it's a great game!

Re: Grim Fandango Remastered
Yeah, it was announced for PS4 & Vita but no word of PC, then around a week later it emerged that it was landing on PC also.
I love the inventory line :

Re: Grim Fandango Remastered
I never played the original but this caught my attention, then I heard some of the puzzles were, and still are, not that friendly.
How would you compare them to something like machinarium?
Re: Grim Fandango Remastered
Different league completely in comparison to modern games, same goes with games like Full Throttle and the original Monkey Island games, some of them can be quite self explanatory and others are just out there with bizarre solutions.
This is one of those games though where by all means try and solve the puzzles but you can also safely use a spoiler free guide and just go through it and enjoy the story and ambiance. I have played through it many times in the past and still have to occasionally look at a guide when I have forgotten something.

There's a neat direct texture comparison in the RPS review between the "original mode" and the remastered version.
