Steam gets a non-crap refund policy
http://store.steampowered.com/steam_refunds
tl;dr: 2 weeks owned and 2 hours played is the limit. Other limits apply for various other situations, e.g. bundles are combined time for all entries, not all DLC can be refunded (if they give codes that are activated via 3rd party systems valve don't have insight into)
Re: Steam gets a non-crap refund policy
Excellent, just giving that a go with one game I wish I hadn't of bought just yet.
Re: Steam gets a non-crap refund policy
Shame I cant back date this to my Alien colonial marine purchase!
Finally Valve doing something good! It gives me more incentive to order directly from steam.
Re: Steam gets a non-crap refund policy
Just saw this ...after spending a considerable amount of time trying to log in to Steam and being told my connection is down while happily being able to browse e.g. Hexus and downloading updates.
At first glance it seems like a good and long overdue move. Although I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop.
Re: Steam gets a non-crap refund policy
Yes I had the same problem just now, was quite annoying really.
Re: Steam gets a non-crap refund policy
Well got my refund already, that was quick! Considering it was over a month ago I purchased, but only 7 minutes played I guess

Nice! May I ask what you bought, played and got a refund for? I'm the curious type, sorry. ;)
Re: Steam gets a non-crap refund policy
Perfect Golf, which was early access but felt more like a tech demo than anything resembling a game, any word from the developers was few and far between and I found one of the mods they had on Steam quite rude to be honest, one of those don't say anything bad about our game types.
After having owned The Golf Club I was really looking forward to Perfect Golf, swing meter and all that but I don't think it delivered, even as early access. As it develops it could well get better but for the time being I think my money was better off spent elsewhere.
I have owned multiple early access titles so knew what to expect but lack of updates and edgy mods wasn't fun. And was certainly one of those discussions on their steam forum where you ask a question and you get some shirty answer by someone(normally a mod) saying "well we spoke about it on the perfect parallel website".

How did you get a refund on a one month old purchase, when the limit is 14 days?
BTW, anyone read the best bit:

We do not consider it abuse to request a refund on a title that was purchased just before a sale and then immediately rebuying that title for the sale price.
Re: Steam gets a non-crap refund policy
Never mind, I see you said it was Early Access and you can request refunds on any game before, and up to two weeks after, it's release date.
I might have to look through my list, there's a few I wish I hadn't bought.
Re: Steam gets a non-crap refund policy
Indeed, it also says that it can be longer than 2 weeks, they take each case on its merits after the 2 week period.
Re: Steam gets a non-crap refund policy
Make sure you pay for goods with your bank account if aren't sure its a keeper for you.
Had to wait 8 working days for Paypal to release their "hold" on my refunds, if you don't need the money immediately; that's fine
Re: Steam gets a non-crap refund policy
I received my refund straight away via Paypal and any hold I have had has only ever been 24 hours. Maybe works different for different people.

Hey
Do you mean the money was available in your account for withdrawal straight away?
Steam confirmed the withdrawal within hours for me and so did Paypal but I couldn't actually access it in any way for 8 days
Re: Steam gets a non-crap refund policy
Yep, into account and withdraw within 10 minutes.
Re: Steam gets a non-crap refund policy
