I remeber going on the bus to Norwich to buy this game from Game and being really excited about playing it on the way home. It was excellent but very very hard.

This is without doubt one of the best Games ever created. What ever happened to Sensible Software? (The studio)

I remember Canon Fodder 2 had the Virgin Interactive logo on the bottom of the box. I believe that Virgin interactive went bust or decided to pull out of the games industry shortly after resident evil 2

It seems Sensible Software became part of Codemasters and thus no longer exists.

You need to create a blank disk for saving the game first, there is an option for that under the floppies tab. When you want to save the game you have to press F12 (Once the game asks you to put in a disk for saving) then change the disk in DF0 to the blank you created. After you have changed the disk to the 'blank' press F12 or 'ok' to go back to the game and proceed with the onscreen instructions for the save. Once saved do the same procedure to change back to the Sensi Soccer disk and carry on.
