same here, the tip i found helpful was make sure you fire in small, short burst because in counterstike if u just hold the trigger ur bullets go everywhere and the chances of you getting a kill are small. I'm also finding experts who are just too good so im intriqued to see what people say.

I do play the original CS, pretty good at it actually but I was just playing Cobble with some German guy and he was acting like a pr*** so I was just wondering if there was anyone on hexus who would be kind and have a game against me (and not whoop me!)

    http://www.thegrounds.net/n00b.php

This seems like an OK guide, but a lot of the things it mentions are obvious, so I guess we all just need to practise a little more.

P.S. Do you get anything when you reach 1,000 posts ?

    Always aim for head too.

Don't confuse this with "Keep crosshair on head" as the recoil in CS will lift the bullets fallpoint above the crosshair if you spray.

When walking around, keep the crosshair at head height, and also keep it pointed where you think the enemy will next pop out, so all you have to do is click fire, instead of having to aim and click fire, saving you precious moments which can make a huge difference.

    A better guide is here - http://hometown.aol.co.uk/__121b_ceV.../lgZbfx2X3zlUc

A tutorial would maybe be good in CS - with a few bots and a corny voice saying "always aim at the head. Now you try."!

lol - true... bots would make it easier to practice. The only game I've got with bots is UT2004, and the latest patches and packs have made it too slow to practice with.

There was an unofficial bot called POD bot but that used waypoints and was a bit n00bish really

The only real way to pick it up is to come play with the rest of the hexus folks - YES for the first few days you WILL get battered, killed and knifed (if your lucky) but after a while it will click into place and you'll be getting kills.

Maybe I'm just not as good as I'd like to be. I find that I'm quite good on some maps (very few), but on most of them I don't do so well .

i seem to vary a lot in how well i play one day i'm getting scores of 35-10 when the next day i'm strugling to get 1:1 ratio with only 15 kills.
I don't mean to sound cold, or cruel, or vicious, but I am so that's the way it comes out.

I know what you mean. I was playing with neonplanet just now, and (s)he will probably tell you the same - and started off really well - I was 2nd in fact, which is unusual, then slowly got worse....

I tend to do that a lot - start off well, then deteriorate.
