I'm looking forward to what devs create for the new Apple TV

Apple's terms say every game has to work in some way with the "wand" but can have expanded functionality with a proper controller.

It's early days but I think this will remove barriers for indie devs.

    www.apple.com/uk/tv/games-and-more/

It's a bit pricier than I expected at £169 for 64GB, then ~£50 for that nice looking controller.

But the variety of the App Store could make that good.

Anyway, I've already tweeted at N++'s devs about porting.

What do you guys think? Without turning this into some apple hate.

I think Apple can stick it where the sun don't shine.

This is not Apple-hate so much as privacy-intrusion-hate, and I would say the same to :-

    - Samsung, for SmartTV's collecting data on users
    - GoogleNow, for voice response without genuine informed consent
    - MS for always-on listening capability in Kinect
    - MS with Win10
    - and, of course, similar functionality in Sirii.

If companies want to collect, analyse and "store" data, especially voice data from inside our homes, then it ought, in my opinion, to ONLY happen with genuine, fully-informed explicit user consent, based on FULL disclosure, in sufficient detail for consent to truly be "informed" on everything that data may be used for. A vaguely worded "other marketing" on page 38 of the licence agreement does not constitute adequate user consent.

Short of that, NOBODY is putting a device in my home without such microphones having a physical off switch. A setting in setup parameters is not enough if there is any chance, and I mean the remotest possibility, that that setting can be changed by remote, whether it be by the company, or hackers, or ANYONE but me and family members.

And that goes a million fold if there's cameras involved. Short of physical blocking of cameras, they aren't coming in my home.

So, Apple can stick their TV device, until and unless such concerns are met to my satisfaction, and so can Google, MS, Samsung, and Uncle Tom Cobbly and all.

Wow, you can probably disable the Siri voice search. But more importantly, how do you expect these services to work without them sending data back?

Anyway, what about the games and apps potential?

I see the BBC have finally done something positive and iPlayer is coming soon, might prompt the other networks to do the same. Then I can have all streaming off the same box.

Weird I thought iPlayer had been on AppleTV for ages. But guess not.

If Plex ever came to Apple TV then that would really solve it all for me.

Nope never has. Yet there's been iOS versions for a long time!

Completely random but I read devs as chavs.

Yes I am off to bed now.
