No New Assassin's Creed this year
So this just showed up on PCGamer: http://www.pcgamer.com/confirmed-no-...eed-this-year/ Original source here: http://blog.ubi.com/a-message-from-t...ns-creed-team/
Seems Ubisoft have confirmed rumours that there won't be a new Assassin's Creed game this year. About time for them to take a break and actually consider doing something new with the series I think.
Re: No New Assassin's Creed this year
I'd still have a flutter that they squeeze one in somewhere!
Re: No New Assassin's Creed this year
Would be nice to play one that doesn't feel rushed or at least runs better than my Nan.

Agreed, Ubisoft games generally don't get made too well for PC regardless, but with this and also the recent news that The Division on consoles has some form of graphics options, we might be seeing a shift in Ubisoft's attitude towards the care they put into their games. Even the original assassin's creed games didn't run amazingly, be it PC or Console, but perhaps that will change in the next game. That or they'll think about game design for a while then rush out the actual game again without making it run well, we'll have to wait and see.
Re: No New Assassin's Creed this year
I'm sure they will be releasing Watchdogs 2 this year.
Re: No New Assassin's Creed this year
They are apparently releasing Watch Dogs 2 before March next year, wouldn't be surprised if it slotted into the spot where AC would usually land.
Don't get me wrong Syndicate is a fine entry into the AC universe, love it but it is the same as the previous few games, Unity now that it is fixed is also really good. They do need to have a think on moving the series forward though, it has been the same since AC3 with mechanics and things to do with just different locales and time periods. They should have just done Black Flag, then Syndicate and maybe thinking French Revolution now, I was hoping that the next main game would have been somewhere like Russia but that is one of the spin off side scrollers Chronicles games so we will have to wait and see.
Apparently they also have another new I.P and a new Ghost Recon landing before March next year, not fogetting the imminent arrival of The Division and Far Cry Primal which I must admit does look good but I have a feeling it will just be FC 3 & 4 reskinned with the same kind of usual open world tasks to be doing.

What? A games maker shamelessly profiting on its major IP by releasing a tacky spin off? Surely not!
Re: No New Assassin's Creed this year
The last one that I played was super heavy and not very interesting to be honest. They need to optimize their games a bit more
Re: No New Assassin's Creed this year
I loved the Assassins Creed series, but as soon as they killed off Desmond and started releasing games every year which weren't as good as the last ones I stopped playing. My last Assassins Creed game was ACBF.
Re: No New Assassin's Creed this year
The last AC game I played was AC3. What a waste of time. Since then, I haven't bothered playing any AC game.
The magic of AC1, AC2, ACB, ACR was just lost by milking the series like a ca$h cow.
Is there a way to fix things? Who knows? The Assassins have all been below par compared to Ezio or Altair
Re: No New Assassin's Creed this year
Maybe they're concentrating on the film release?
Re: No New Assassin's Creed this year
Guess they can only rehash the same idea so many times
Re: No New Assassin's Creed this year
Echo the sentiments here, I hope they take a break to re-evaluate where they are going, and produce a great game again. I loved the AC games, but stopped playing a while ago as it was churned out rehashed stuff year after year.
Re: No New Assassin's Creed this year
I actually picked up everything from Black flag cheap recently and played them in reverse-chronological order :)
Got to say, I was surprised at how good they were, although by the time I played them they had a lot of fixes....
Re: No New Assassin's Creed this year
I've done all of the Ezio and Altair ones, but got 3 on the cheap and just never managed to get into it.
Might take a look at Black Flag etc...
BTW, post 9 was a massive spoiler for me...
Re: No New Assassin's Creed this year
That sucks, i love the game man
