    No Man's Sky

I saw a long Youtube program on this.....

    it seems immense!!!!

and the idea of going out and exploring for new elements for the periodic table.. and new creatures... genuinely excites me along with trading and fighting.

    Re: No Man's Sky

    But.. where's the fun?!

Procedural gen stuff is neat, but Elite already did a bunch of this kind of stuff and the 'fun' argument keeps rearing its head.

Having been burned by elite (aka Euro Truck Simulator 2700 edition) I'm refusing to get hyped about this. The problem with anything purporting to use a realistic scale universe is that it simply won't be popular enough to actually populate it.

where there is virtual currency.. there will be money makers/miners

where there are those things, there will be pirates and griefers

    and therefore combat

so long as it's not as dull as Eve, and is more accessible, it will sell well

    Re: No Man's Sky

We've now got gamelan videos so the old question of "what do you DO?" has been answered, and it looks kind of cool, maybe a little lonely though? I can see this as a very marmite game, I won't be buying upon release but I'm very interested and might pick it up after I hear how others are getting on with it.

My most wanted game of the year along with Warhammer Total war but all the delays on this one is really putting me off, guess it is best delayed then riddled with bugs

This game looks so good! Remember seeing it a year or 2 ago at E3.

    Re: No Man's Sky

No Man's Sky has been delayed until August 9th for both PC and PS4:

    http://www.pcgamer.com/no-mans-sky-reportedly-delayed/

I'm thinking Hello Games are adding VR to the game personally, as well as tweaking the game itself. The release date is creeping towards the PS VR and PS4.5/Neo release dates too.

Heard about the delay, shame. You would have thought they would have just added VR support through a (massive) patch rather than delaying, given that the VR doesn't drop until October. Hopeful it does get VR support though!

    Re: No Man's Sky

Maybe the fun element (potential lack of) and VR element will be mutually beneficial in terms of the delay. The procedural generation may kill a little of the fun, however playing the game in VR might match the pacing of the action and add to aspect of discovering and “looking” around a planet for the first time.

I guess whether you have a VR headset or not for a game that offers either play style will be a large factor on if its enjoyable to play, or if you even bother with the title.

    Re: No Man's Sky

This game looks awesome but its virtually a single player game as the universe is so large the chance of meeting another player is virtually impossible and it seems the developers don't really care for multiplayer in this game.

    Re: No Man's Sky

I'm very on the fence about this game, it's been hyped up so much that it can't meet expectations, but the question is if it can just be an enjoyable experience rather than an empty grind through randomised worlds with no detail. Still looking forward to trying it out at 4k or in VR on PC though!

    Re: No Man's Sky

zzzzz I wouldnt pay w**** to play it .. games these days are all lack lustre and frankly boring - even the VR stuff is not much more than 30 se peepshow .

Whats the point in even having all this new tech if it doesnt change how people think or offer new avenues ?

I bought Hide yesterday for example expecting something different but reality is , its not much different than kentucky route zero and all the other quirky indies.

    zzz

    Re: No Man's Sky

This comes out a few days before we go to Bulgaria for 2 weeks.

As soon as we get back going to grab it for PS4 or PC (probably PC), looks like something you could spend months just exploring. I just hope though that it lives up to the hype it has generated.

There are also so many games now that they are just tagging multiplayer on for the sake of it, decent and long lasting single player experiences don't need a multiplayer component just because
