Was I the only one back in the...

Was I the only one back in the 90’s playing the “Hero’s of Might and Magic” series? I truly miss games like that. I wonder if/when turn based strategy with ever make a comeback. Honestly I’m not sure it would be the same anymore, I loved the games at the time because they seemed huge. Maybe I’m just nostalgic. Anyway, what are some of everyone’s favorite (if they have any) turn based strategy games, anyone know of any games similar? While your at it feel free to relive the “good ol days” and while you’re here and talk about any of your old favorites.

All this talk about old voodoo cards has had me thinking.
I wonder if anyone will be as bold to mention net hack? :-)

I played lase squad, that was a squad level turn based game. Another fav was space hulk on my C64, 4 player turn based was a good grin. Have recently tried UFO aftermath (sp?), its similar to laser squad but is a hybrid turn based system. Unfortunately the hybrid system seems to give a very jerky game. didnt really get on with it. There is also a new laser squad game out but its play by email only, no single player

Panzer General II was a fav turn based game of mine for a while, but rts knocked turn based for a 6. I'd never go back. Used to play Heroes but got bored with it.

im still playing them heroes of might and magic games, playing the newest one right now with the expansion.

however i prefer the heroes chronicles series, to me they feel like they have more of a storyline.

ive got heros of might and magic 3 and might and magic 7 and 8. 3 is a good turn based one but i prefer the role play of might and magic so i can train up and wander freely to what ever section i want to
