Got this from a site:
No Gold Yet...But Good News!
So, this is the long-awaited September 15th, and still no news on Gold status. There is a rumor floating around that Vivendi will be making a statement later about Half-Life 2's release, but no promises here.
Here is the good news, and I can say with a good degree of certainty that this means that we will have Half-Life 2 on September 30th:
The Inquirer just posted news that comes from ATI. The oft-mentioned-rarely-understood Alcatraz Press Event will be taking place on September 30th, as well as a simultaneous event in Munich, Germany. To quote the Inquirer,
We're not certain that these are the final numbers, but you probably already know that the 30th is also the day when Valve will introduce its highly anticipated Half Life 2 with its now famous benchmarks.
As we said previously, all Radeon 9800XT cards will be shipped with this title and this is likely to cost ATI some serious money -- some are suggesting as much as $8 million, although we still wait to get solid proof about the Nvidia-ATI auction.
Let's run down the list of reasons why HL2 will be here on the 30th.
-ATI's 9800XT will be released at Alcatraz on the 30th, bundled with HL2
-The HL2 benchmark will be released on the 30th
-The only date every cited by Valve was the 30th
Supposedly this promotional 9800XT is DEFINITLY happening on the 30th which means it will have a copy of the game on display, so could the 30th still be a realistic possibility.
