download address....nope![]()
was a classic huh? all that trading and fighting, and upgrading. awesome. Docking computer made it faster...the first few hours trying to line up was a nightmare, then go slowly forward, rotating at the same time.First thing I got was a docking computer.

Remember it ?
It was my life.
I changed my name to
John Jameson
Leesti Court
Cobra St
Thargoidshire
.....never did get off that Deadly rating though![]()
Is Elite Plus different to Frontier? God, I loved that game on the Amiga![]()
I had Frontier as well, me and a mate both got it the day of release at an Amiga show in Londo (Earls Court I think, or possibly Wembley).
Best game ever IMHO.
I think someone developed a ground up open source rewrite of it?

Yeah, I think it was called Frontier First Encounters wasn't it? I couldn't get it to work on my PC though.
Download it from here.
:edit: Sorry, First Encounters was a sequal to Frontier: Elite II. Seems to have been written by Braben again.
The thargoid attack just doesnt happen enough when you are fully loaded with military lasers and them bomb things..... some what fun but to shallow really.
it is a game that truly does deserve![]()
this was the first game that i got stupidly addicted to. Will be playing it again tonight for the first time in what must be 5 years if not more...
ohh the excitement!!!!!!!!!!!![]()
BT Own the rights to publish it on other platforms"Elite" was written by David Braben and Ian Bell starting in 1982 while the authors were still at Cambridge University. It was first published by Acornsoft on the BBC Micro in September 1984 to huge critical acclaim. The rights to other computer platforms were then auctioned by Jacqui Lyons of Marjacq, and British Telecomthen went on to publish on many other platforms under the name of Firebird.![]()
I believe Braben still has the rights to make sequels (for any platform), whether or not he'll ever actually make it happen is another question though.
