    One place you can import:

    www.liksang.com

May not be the best but very popular. I heard somewhere in the region of £60-£80 import charge

I bought mine from a uk retailer.

customs charges are indeed £60-£80 depending on who the courier is, I've not seen anyone to get a PSP through without customs charges.

I paid £299 for a PSP Value Pack, Ridge Racers and Next Day courier. Yes, it could have been less if ordered abroad but by the time you add customs charges it pushes it past the price I paid etc.

Ya pays ya money and takes ya chances.

Oh yeah, and the PSP rocks!

A friend of mine at work got one from Liksang and i have to say what a machine it is. That widescreen display is cool and that Ridge Racer game looked impressive on it.

He's just got a DS as well, likes his gaming, does he Ain't seen that yet though

Does anyone know how much they are going to be when the UK versions arrive?

    Betty Swallocks,

it is going to be around £179.99 (Amazon and Gameplay certainly seem to think so)

Nintendo DS is 99.99 and sony will have a fight on their hands to be competitive even though their machine is far superior.

your guess is good as mine so it could be anything from £129.99 to £199.99

    a bit opinionated hey?

sure the pspp will rule the roost in graphics and support,
but the ds will rule in portability (battery life) and ingenuity and games etc

Sorry, but innovatation doesnt go hand in hand with re-makes.... Whats the point in inventing an innovative little handheld like the DS, then making ANOTHER warioware game for it, and OH YES, a remake of the N64 classic..... thats "innovation"

The PSP will win the battle, purely because a) Sony is a household name, b) it appears far supperior in graphical terms, c) It plays MP3s and Videos.

Sorry, but however much I love Nintendo, i am not a fanboy that has been blinded and cant see the truth...

As for pricing, and importing... why the HELL are you guys paying £300 for a PSP?!?!?!

March 11th, it will be here and it will be sub-£150. The DS has been confirmed at £99.99 and can you honestly see Sony pricing the PSP £100 more than the DS? No, It will be £150 at a maximum, falling to £100 after 12 months no doubt.

GBA SP is dropping to £50, making a handheld bargain, but can the DS really cut it against a machine with Playstation graphics and mainstream appeal?!...

Had a play on a DS last week, not impressed. It was suprisingly big, games felt like they were trying to make use of the screen, rather than they needed it. Only tried metroid demo and ridge racer. At the moment I have a GBA SP.

Sizes from a website below, think they are correct.
    Product Name: PlayStation Portable (PSP)
    Color: Black
    Dimensions: Approx. 170 mm (L) x 74 mm (W) x 23 mm (D)

    Nintendo DS

    Size (when closed):
    148.7mm wide
    84.7mm long
    28.9smm tall.

Think it would be best to have a look at both before buying, also look at the games when they come out.

    hi muddyfox470,

in what way is my comments a bit opinionated ?

i stated the simple facts "machine is far superior" - this is not just my opinion but from many others including people in the industry. the simple fact is the power of the psp outweighs the ds.

compare ridge racer on ds with the psp! argument over!

oh yeah what about Gran Turismo / GTA / Wipeout etc etc the list goes on and on.....the games will be far superior due to the power of the psp

battery issues.......if i suffer i'll buy another and just deal with having 2. i doubt i be playing the thing 24/7.

psp is damn portable.....i cant believe you said it isn't

i have personally decided to get it from the UK and just use my staff discount

personally the psp will be this years top gadget to get....and will rapidly eat into nintendo's hand held market share.

cast your mind back to 1994.....lol let the battle begin! sony vs nintendo (gizmondo lol doesnt have a chance)...

i knw where my hard earned £ is going

    rant over

    thanks,

The PS2 was more expensive than all the other consoles at the time, and it still outsold them all combined, even if the PSP is £50 more than the DS, people will pay it for the superior machine.

but remember that the PS2 was up against previous generation consoles at the time...oh and the Dreamcast.

Another site to add to the list is http://www.play-asia.com/ I'll poke my mate who has imported both a PSP and a DS and ask him whether he had to pay an import charge.
