    Yes I've got it
Yes I've played and and in fact I still do. It's a superb game that blends a Risk style map with micromanagement and the best 3D strategy battle engine in existence until Rome: total war comes along

I would say its a bit of an aquired taste. Its certainly a very 'good' game without dobt, but, well, as some people have said, the game is advanced that 'does it really need the user?'
The computer can calculate the results of the all the battles for you, isntead of playing them, and this usually gives you a better result than plaing it your self, and after that, well there isn't much to do.
Its a game worth trying, but an less you really like the style your probably gonna get bored after a day or two

www.totalwar.com - i downloaded the demo last night, we must be on the same thought paths here.

The demo's alright, it lets you play all the tutorial levels of which theres about 8 or 9, pretty good idea of the combat but limits you to a few troop types etc. The game has got a pretty good rep, excellent reviews and the viking expansion pack is said to be exceptional for a add-on. The demo is about a 240mb download.

I got the Shogun total war, pre medieval, but its bloody good fun, tho it does take a while to get really into it

Hopefully medieval is more of the same.

Just noticed Amazon are doing medeiival total war for £14.99 (bargain), the expansion is the same price. Am very tempted to get it. I had a "demo" version of medieval, its a very good game, worth buying at that price. Wonder if a version with vikings will be out at a good price?? The buildings side is getting better with each version of total war, rome looks to have a much more advanced system so am looking forward to that.

Skii......Shogun, Total War was unbelievably good, so I have to say, it goes that Medieval must be ace too.

but its hard as nails....one of my friends really did get good at it, and he was frankly the Master ......the rain effects the troup movement up wet grassy hills, etc and you must use the correct infantry/cavalry etc against the corect opponent....its LOOKS like heaven even on an older machine too....

So I rate it as 9/10, but a lot of people found it just as hard as hell which is good.

I use Fileplanet because I subscribe - erk, I know!

I've ordered the game and expansion from gameplay I put the link in an earlier post in this topic, its well cheap at £27.99 for both! It should have come today, so perhaps tomorrow morning (I hope).

I'll just have to play Simcity4 to pass the time till then.
