Well, it's not often I become obsessed with a PC game, much less a simple one.
But here we have it - Minion Masters, Zak's new poison and a cleverer game I struggle to think of.
In essence, it's like a card game- you chose a deck of cards, each of which represents a fighting character, or a spell to support them. You choose 7
You play online vs other randomly matched people who do the same.
As time passes from the begin of the match you earn mana, and each of your cards costs mana, a diff amount per card to play them. Both players have a half of the screen, and the two sides are joined by two bridges. Flying characters dont need to use them, walking do.
Each player has a boss sat on a platform at the back of their side, and those bosses have health, and when it's gone, you lose. The enemy characters walk/fly across the map, with the opposition using mana to use character cards or to cast spell cards, trying to reduce your boss to zero. You do the same.
As you win/lose you earn gold and gems and can buy/craft new cards, for better characters.
The combinations of cards you choose are essential to your style of game play. The boss character has different skills/abilities too. They need t work in harmony.
It's easy to learn. And it's TOUGH to play :-)
The more you win the more points you accrue and the money/gems roll in.. and then the software finds you a harder opposition and you have your arse handed to you on a silver platter and you drop back a few games.

it can leave you chewing the mouse off it's cable with frustration and also punching the air with the last second win. The characters you choose can be all powerful for 3 games and then you meet your nemesis and bosch.... it's all over.
The bosses accumulate more skills as each game progresses and some are odd, some cunning, and some you have to really think hard on the benefits.
Each card you play goes back to the bottom of your deck and comes back out in that order SO you can control what comes back out, if you hold some cards until you have the ones you want in your hand. You have FOUR card to choose from at any point, need mana to use them and can see the fifth one (next in line) to help plan.
Games last from 60 seconds to 4 minutes.... its fast and it's brilliant and tough as an anvil !!
At first the graphics seems pretty old school, but effort has gone in and its got good detail
After a few hours I knew I was hooked.
After a few months I can honestly hit this with an 8/10 score. I say hit because I do want to hit it some times.. with a mallet. But most of the time... it's just clever :-)
