    Overcooked

    Lo people

Ferral gifted me this on Steam and it's a very very good game. Easy peasy to learn, and an hellish blood boiler to do really well at.

Played by myself and my 10 year old lad, or by he and my missus.. or she and I...

shared keyboard... one keyboard... oh the tension and the laughter

    http://store.steampowered.com/app/448510/Overcooked/

It's a simple idea. It's a top down kitchen. You control a chef with arrow keys, a pick up/drop key and an action key. There's a sprint key too but it's just carnage with that!
In the kitchen is a selection of boxes of ingredients, a choppingh board, a gas hob with a pot, and some bowls to serve. There's a serving hatch and a sink to wash up.

The orders come in as tickets at the top of the screen, and you grab the ingredients, chop them, pot them, cook them, bowl them and serve. Simple

You've got a few minutes and the clock counts down.

Deadly simple. Deadly hard. Aim for 1 2 oe 3 stars and get to the next kitchen. The menu gets a tad more complex but you expect that.

With two chefs, sharing a keyboard and running around like numpties, rolling onions and burning food it gets tense!

Then the kitchens change... moving work surfaces, ice, moving trucks in the backs of lorries... it's hectic and it's FUN!

    9/10 for me. A 100% family laugh

Played it with my daughter though how I didn't end up launching the controller I will never know!

Really fun game but amazingly frustrating.

Wife and I still haven't got past the ice level where you need to jump on the ice floes to cross the river.

I've got a spare Steam key if anyone wants it... <Gone to Macman>

Zak Jr and I nailed that after 4 or 5 goes... there are harder ones

then.. we'd got a few 1 star's and lots of 2stars.. and a few 3's... we couldn't progress until we got a few extra stars on earlier kitchens.. so we got a bit tense, and then down and dirty on the earlier kitchens, lobbing food on the floor, rolling stuff at each other... bloody ace but what a tense last 30 seconds.

However... the geius Kitchen of the game so far is UTTER DARKNESS (power cut) with only head torches... and flashes of lightning!

The first entire attempt was just wandering around trying to find stuff

    brilliant game

We're using a shared keyboard... try THAT for being right next to each other...and for "Dad... that WAS a rude word, Mum won't be happy if I say that!"

Lol, hmmm yes we were using 2 controllers, I don't think the keyboard would have worked, I would imagine I would be ordering a new keyboard by now!

    Re: Overcooked

I never realized this was available on pc - i played with my nephew and niece on xbox - but sharing a keyboard i'm not sure - argument waiting to happen bad enough when you have two controllers - fun game but on any format i can see a lot of blame game going on for loss of task

If you have a solid bond and a fabulous relationship then yes it is.

If your relationship is a bit touch and go you WILL kill each other

    Re: Overcooked

For those looking for more games like Overcooked, give Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime a go. The name and storyline are... odd, but the gameplay is great. Essentially you need to pilot and defend a ship, except there are multiple stations and not enough people so it often results in Overcooked-style frustration, panic and shouting.

    Re: Overcooked

This is the one (and only) game that my family played over Christmas (Mum, Sister & Wife) and they loved it. They never played a game before yet they were able to pick up the controls & coordinate pretty well together.
