Re: Has your gaming taste changed as you've got older?

I like to have a nice balance of games. I love reverting back to old consoles and own a fair few now (a lot of the fun for me comes from trying to reaccumulate all of the old games I once had). With that said though I still love modern gaming, I just completed the Witcher 3 for the second time.

Re: Has your gaming taste changed as you've got older?

I think my taste has mostly stayed the same as I still enjoy shooters and racing games but as I have gotten older I've adopted a much more casual playstyle. I don't find competitive multiplayer to be appealing anymore though and would rather sink my teeth into a good single player game.

Yeah defo they have changed. I used to love baldurs gate and deep RPG's. Now if they are too heavy i've just played Dragon Age Origins. The leveling up and crafting and so much world lore just bores me.
Where as I love mass effect which i think the gets the balance right.
Still like FPS's but think they are a bit over done
Would love some more side scrolling beat em ups like streets of rage
    Never like racing games
Will still play american sports games
wants a proper boxing sim on an updated fight night champion

    Permanently confused

My taste hasn't really change at all. I still like RPG and RTS games, same as I did when I was a kid. I do have less patience for the games that don't hit home with me though. I'm less willing to experiment.

I used to have more time time and enjoyed RTS like StarCraft. I just don't have time for that now and have to do in and out of games so probably play more FPS on the Xbox... Tho just single player else I get creamed.

Re: Has your gaming taste changed as you've got older?

Used to hammer FPS games as a kid into late 20's but now, I find I love FPS still but I get stressed because I know I used to be WAY much better than I am these days
Still competitive and still wanting to always win haha, and watching the teen's of today and watching the speed :'( oh for a younger body again!

I find though in this day and age, I struggle to get really into a game, as clans mean nothing, there isn't as bigger competitive scene anymore (am talking about the Barry's world, jolt, wireplay days) when leagues/ladders/cups used to be going on none stop. Games today I feel get hammered for a few months then binned which is a shame, gone are the days it seems when a game would come and and then communities would go mad to make maps and mods for it.

Either that or am that out of touch am missing it all!

Mine changed from RTS to FPS I loved playing stronghold series in my teens and now I love playing FPS more. A person's mindset changes with the time I don't know what future holds.

Re: Has your gaming taste changed as you've got older?

My gaming taste hasn't changed a lot, but I find my gaming style sure has. I play my FPS games more conservatively now especially the P2P and Battle Royale games. In Fortnite, I never charge blindly into battle. I prefer to stay hidden and pick people off one-by-one. Older and more devious I guess.

I've generally craved games with better stories actual character development etc as I've got older.

Re: Has your gaming taste changed as you've got older?

I used to be a big FPS fan, these days I prefer a bit of a slower pace so I mostly play turn based strategy (i.e. XCOM and BattleTech).

Re: Has your gaming taste changed as you've got older?

Part of it is that the type of new releases changes over time. I still like the classic adventure type game, and TellTale started making several of them, but for the last few years have changed them into more story telling games so the only recent one I've bought from them is Game of Thrones.

Company of Heroes is still good after over a decade - I like it better than Company of Heroes 2 and indeed all other RTS's that I have tried.

Re: Has your gaming taste changed as you've got older?

I think its a combination of my taste changing, but (I'd like to think) also perhaps the quality - or perhaps innovation - of the industry having plateau'd gradually over the last decade.

I used to spend days on end in games like EQ1, D2, Red Alert, Quake 2 as a teenager. Even WoW when it first came out was a serious detriment to my University studies. But in recent years I've struggled finding anything with depth and content to keep me interested for longer periods. There's been a few exceptions (xcom2, planetside 2) but a lot of games - especially the series - I feel are just a rehash of something that came out the previous year, just re-skinned, perhaps with slightly different graphics and maybe a few new game modes (personally - I think this is particularly true for the COD series). There's nothing particularly groundbreaking or any real innovation over last years releases for the most part.

Maybe I am just getting old

I've started to play more open world RPG games like The Witcher 3, GOW and many more compared to FPS games.

Not at all - I have never had the time or inclination to get into been into computer games (with the exception of things like Freecell, Soduko etc), and that hasn't changed as I have grown older.
