Re: Has your gaming taste changed as you've got older?
I no longer play CS at my parents with a hip flash of vodka in the drawer with a bunch of old blokes getting drunk and swearing a lot.
Now I get drunk as soon as I get back from work and find myself too tired to play anything with any level of competence.
Re: Has your gaming taste changed as you've got older?
Not so much online multiplayer anymore as my reflexes aren't what they used to be. I do dabble occasionally much to the ire of the team I am on but I paid my money and have every right to play whether they like it or not. Only exception to that Is Titanfall 2, absolute love it online.
As for gaming in general I tend to spend more time with the 3rd person open world titles now rather than shooters, cuirrently playing through Spider-Man and have the new Tomb Raider sitting there patiently waiting for me to get through my current game
Re: Has your gaming taste changed as you've got older?
I used to be pretty good at COD online, fast forward a few years and I don't game that much. I tried some COD online and I got ABSOLUTELY creamed (pretty embarrassing). I feel like I'd need to put such a lot of work into getting my reflexes back and turning controls into second nature that it's just not worth it for me...
Re: Has your gaming taste changed as you've got older?
i haven't stop playing games, but the taste has changed a bit. I now prefer more complete and detailed games.
Re: Has your gaming taste changed as you've got older?
I dont think my taste of games as changed much,, its more so My expectations of games and What games should be like with all the High skills & technology out there. Games lack the quality, the finesse of what they are capable of. The early trailers mostly showing Super Hyped-up looking games that fail to materialise games such as The Division when it was announced shows this amazing Snowdrop engine yet when the game out it was nothing like what they showed at E3. Bugfield 5 (Battlefield 5) ridden with bugs & crashs. Publishers sticking to older Gaming engines & Shoddy programming is partially to blame.
Re: Has your gaming taste changed as you've got older?
Minecraft is my favorite game, just as it was before :)
Re: Has your gaming taste changed as you've got older?
I started with RPG, probably around 1980 and still there now.
Lunch time gaming at work under UNIX (Rogue and the original Colossal Cave Adventure. Anyone remember the magic word xyzzy?). I've tried lots of rogue variants since and some still quite playable.
The 1980s, well Elite has to have a mention, also the quirky Brian Bloodaxe, Starquake and The Hobbit (on a C64)
I think the original Diablo is still the best of the series. The Witcher possibly the same.
Torchlight 1/2 were another highlight (one of the developers had worked on Diablo, so had to try it). Slick play and graphics.
World of Warcraft was around the time when one started to admire the detail of the scenery, and more recently I found The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim... Must be around 1000 hours on that and others in the series, and I am still looking for something to improve on it...
Though I have also enjoyed the Unreal Tournament series and am now having the occasional blast on the new open sourced version on the Epic Games launcher. My reaction times are probably way too slow, but it certainly blows away the cobwebs:)

My tastes haven't changed much. That's the problem. I still like what I've always liked, but gaming has moved.
Re: Has your gaming taste changed as you've got older?
Yes, i use to be massive on FPS but now....well im just lazy i guess?
Re: Has your gaming taste changed as you've got older?
At 45 I steer well away from competative FPS games, and have done for many years. In fact since I was about 35 I've pretty much exclusively only played single player, or more usually cooperative games. For me cooperative or PVE style play is both more enjoyable for an 'old timer' and breeds a better, less toxic community. That said I usually stick to playing with a select group of friends I've built up over the years, or more often than not just in a duo with my wife.
I've also always been into city builders and so still dump a huge amount of time into the likes of Tropico, City Skylines, Aven Colony and that sort of game. Oh and literal days into Dwarf Fortress. ;) !!FUN!!

....
If it wasn't for the age, and that if my wife wanted to play conputer games I'd think she'd been abducted by aliens and replaced with a clone, I might suspect you were me. That's exactly my preference.
Re: Has your gaming taste changed as you've got older?
When I was younger I had the desire to play every new game out. But time is so limited thanks to my job - I prefer shorter single player experiences or co-op games. I gave up on The Witcher 3 after 2 hours - the game is way way too long!

That's probably also because there were far fewer games coming out in years gone by. The deluge we get today requires a mindset closer to picking books to read. I rarely pick up a new game I haven't already heard is good from a friend or online buddy. The idea of 'keeping up with the new releases' has become meaningless to me.

Games, I manage to be very selective, partly the higher cost I guess. But not that many games really appeal, for long term play anyway.
But Sci-Fi eBooks on Kindle, I currently have 149 read and 40 unread :shocked2:
Of course I could put less hours into gameplay and more into reading
Re: Has your gaming taste changed as you've got older?
When I was in my late teens, and early 20's, I often would mostly play Grand Prix 2 and 3, and lots of Unreal Tournament, followed by Medal of honour: Allied Assault and Call of Duty... occasionally I would play a story driven game, either shooter or RPG, things like Deus Ex, AVP2 and Halflife, but it was mostly racing, UT, and CoD. These days, I don't touch any competitive online games, as I much prefer co-op games with a friend, I also play story driven games most of the time when playing solo, although Elite: Dangerous has got me sucked in at the moment, but again, that is only in Solo mode. I'm just not interested in competitve online play anymore (mid 30's age now).
