Safety Notice: Xbox Power Cord Replacement

Microsoft have identified a flaw in Xbox power cords that may pose an electrical or fire hazard in rare cases. As such, they are replacing affected power cords. From the FAQ:

If its a european box its before jan 13th 2004.

Thats mainland Europe though, so UK XBoxes should be fine

I dont own one, but if i did i cant really see myself ording a new cable...
also how can the cable make much difference anyways??? (assuming its just like the normal black cable that comes with everything nowadays)

It's probably a problem with the cable breaking at either the plug end or connector end. It might create an exposed live area, or a short circuit.

How often do you hear of recalls on power cables? It's not exactly something that you spend thousands developing. A simple figure-8 lead doesn' usually go wrong.
