    Some XBox 2 details!

"the console is a sleek silver device worthy of countertop display, and features an inhaled design that turns the harsh angles of the original Xbox into sweeps and curves. The device will also be able to stand upright or on it’s side, much like the Playstation 2. The rest of the case can be customized with colorful designer face plates that pop on and off."

    Ripped from HardOCP

I guess they are looking to try and battle against the rising number of media centre PC's.

Should be good I can't wait!

Thay cant make it look much worse than the first one, hope it isnt as massive as the first. However if that description is accurate not only dose it sound like a chavs wet dream console i also detect aome corporate plagerism. Cant beat a slim PS2 looks.

the "Xenon", or "Xbox 360" as it is now being called is due to be powered by Ati Graphics. It may have up to 3 processors, but will probably end up having 2 main 64 bit cpus. It is also reported to probably be having Wireless controllers as standard... although how this would go down with people having to buy batteries for them all the time, i do not know....

    See Design Diagram Picture:

How accurate or current this diagram is, you can speculate, although i'm not sure whether they would really bother with 3 3.5GHZ processors....

Hmmm...not sure about the two or even three 64bit CPU. The PS2's NINE core Cell processor will wipe the floor with it.

Multi-core CPUs are the way forward IMO, rather than a sole reliance on 64 or even 128bits. PC architecture is still designed fundementally for spreadsheets and word processing! This is because one calculation relies on the previous calculation and so on...but something like video encoding doesn't and benefits from having simultanious streams of data going on.

Wireless controllers is a great idea though...as long as they have somewhere to dock and charge...changing batteries is a hassle nobody needs on a console system!

I swear I read somewhere that IBM is involved in CPU projects for Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony for the next generation consoles. I really should have bought stock

IBM are one of the main people developing the Cell processor along with others inc. Sony.
I don't mean to sound cold, or cruel, or vicious, but I am so that's the way it comes out.
