Anyone else picked this up yet, I do own the first game on my Dreamcast and it is awesome, I do need to find a reasonably priced Shenmue 2 so I have them both.
Either way, I picked these up from Fanatical for £20 on Monday and have been playing the first game this afternoon, still an amazing experience and well worth grabbing.
So far I am only on the third day and starting to get info on your fathers killer in the small town, the characters are interesting and people just go about their lives while you do your investigation. I haven't had any combat as of yet but I know some is due on it if my mind serves me right as it is the kids with the football!
The remasters themselves are using the original assets and artwork/textures etc but you have a few options to tidy up the jaggies with FXAA etc and if you wish you can have original Japanese voices with English subtitles (something missing from the Dreamcast given the size of disc at the time and the limitations) this is a nice option as the English voices are pretty cheesy!. You can also take it right up to 4KK if you have a setup capable of that. Yeah it looks a little dated but it is a game that you should experience and absorb, you can get through it in around 10 hours start to finish if you just follow the story but you will miss out on loads. You can win copies of Space Harrier and Hang On to play on your SEGA Saturn back at your home as well as play them in the local arcade for 100 Yen a go. There is so much immersion and depth outside the main story, it is superb.
It is a great thing SEGA releasing these on PC/PS4/XB1 as Shenmue 3 is landing August 27th next year to finally finish the story
