New GTR Demo for the international release!

Yes its already had a leaked tech demo, and a proper demo without sim mode. And its out in Germany, and most of us racesim nuts have already got it. But as its due out in this country in a few weeks, i thought it was worth posting.

This demo has the Spa Francorchamps circuit - but its the dawn version (as in the game you can do the whole 24 hour race).
The cars are Saleen S7R (GT Class) and Ferrari 360 (NGT Class).
    Give it a whirl

I now have my modified XBox controller, and can set the triggers as axis, so i can slowly increase power/braking and an analog stick for steering...should be able to keep the car on the track this time

Thanks for the link Lowe, downloading at 228kb/s

if you think the 360 sounds nice you should hear the 550 and the Lamborghini
    proper Italian V12 screamers.
I'll see if i can find some vids with sound for you.

i still cant drive that 360 i must suck.. i keep understeering under acceleration - is it the kind of game you HAVE to set the car up (in sim mode) or does it come with a different setup for each track?

When i say cant drive, i mean not beat the puny AI not cant get round the circuit.. that would be embarassing

dont worry if you cant drive with the default setups - they really really REALLY suck ass.
Basically they're designed to understeer as much as possible so that n00bs wont get leadfoot and lose the arse all the time, and to encourage people to make their own setups.

Anyways I cant remember the exact values, but try this,
soften all springs to minimum, or 1 click above to get more overall grip.
Soften the front and harden the rear anti-roll bars to balance the understeer more towards oversteer. Somewhere around 120/40 should do it.
    rear wing: ~8, splitter 2
    brake ducts: 3 (2 if you're hotlapping)
    Soft tyres
Brakes to around 58/42. if this makes it too hard to brake without locking up, reduce the front or set braking pressure to 90-95%
Gears, set them so that you're topping 6th in the long straight between Eau Rouge and Les Combes.
Dampers are a pain in the ass to setup properly, leave them at defaults to start with. If you feel the front of the car drifting to the outside of a corner (not the same as understeer though! thats whay its tricky to get the perfect setting) increase the fast/slow bump. fast bump should always be 2-3 clicks higher than slow.

setting the diff is pretty easy when you know you're driving style.
    The rules to follow are...
A higher power side number will result in better traction out of corners and power understeer
A lower power side number will result in worse traction out of corners and power oversteer.
A higher coast side number will result in better braking and understeer off the throttle.
A lower coast side number will result in worse braking and lift off oversteer

With a NGT car like the 360 you should be able to get away with something like 65/40. although watch the loud pedal when coming out of slow corners - especially La Source. Back it off if you have problems, 50/55 is a good setting to start with.

If i remember tonight I'll stick up my 360 spa setup

Well, over the weekend I had a quick go at this. I've got it set on full Sim mode with no driver assists and I've yet to get that damn Ferrari around the track without spinning it. Definately need a wheel and pedals for this I think!

Biggest problems I get are the bus-stop (rear end always steps out on braking) and the first hairpin after the main straight. Still, I've not played with the setups yet.

Oh and the "proper" cars sound amazing. I was lucky enough to have a play on the GTR developers demo stand at Autosport International and had a go in the 575.. It was pure bliss
