my friend recently chipped his xbox, it is truely 1337 now
he can copy the games he plays on it onto the hardrive and play them without the disc!
cool huh?
Pete
id thought bout chipping it. not sure which version ill get (of xbox as some chip differently depending on v.).
did he do it himself?
yup
soldered it in, he was mega pleased
its just a new bios isnt it?
he bought a bigger xbox hardrive, not sure where from though

lol shiato, funny story is he hates being called a geek, god knows did i call him one
he has given me about 2 years of geek abuse when i told him i built my own computer, which is fairly geeky
but, what are you gonna do, its the way the world works!

got my xbox chipped last year and had a 80gb HD fitted it was one of the best things i've ever done imo.
it makes the xbox 500% better as you can watch all you episodes of the simpsons alias ect in divx or whatever you get them in. use internet radio, watch the trailers from apples website(they look fine full screen via the xbox)
EMU's are great too 1000's of old games just sitting on your xbox HD.
deffo would recomend anyone to get one.
yes you can, i do and have been doing so for allmost a year now.Originally Posted by JimmyBoy
only thing is you need to turn the chip off(in my case flick a switch at the bottom of the xbox) also if you have been on live with the xbox the upgraded HD the chances are you will be banned.
but it works fine for me and some mates.
Also a slight problem in that its illegalso dont mod your consoles, just stick with your PC

meh point taken, though i'm sure i read something somewhere about mod chips being illegal - or at least some sort of proposal to make it illegal, could be wrong tho![]()
Please keep this thread on track, as mentioned chipping is legal. However alot of people that use a chipped console use it for pirated software.
I will keep this open as long as illegal activity of any kind is kept out of the thread, otherwise it will be gone
Over at www.bit-tech.net there's a detailed description of installing a mATX motherboard in an Xbox - there's no way an ATX board would fit.

I got so enthusiastic about this that I bought an empty Xbox case off Ebay and I've got an Aopen mATX motherboard waiting to go in it. Just need to get a few more bits and pieces.....plus a dremel!
