Resident Evil 4 - Best Console Game this year?

Well, Resident Evil 4 launches tomorrow in the UK, and even though it is slightly cut from the Japanese version, from what i have so far played it is shaping up to be the most awesome console game i have played this year, not that this would set very high standards, but Resident Evil 4 is something special!

The graphics - all i can say is INSANE. this really shows what the cube CAN do, not just cutesy graphics!

The Sound - In full dolby surround sound this is showcasing game sounds at their best!

The content - Innovative and fun.

I've only played about 45 mins so far, and am taking a break to tell all of you gamecube owners to buy it TOMORROW!
And all of you who DONT own a gamecube, you are looking at £55 for a 2nd hand gamecube with Resident Evil 4, or around £80 or so for the new Resident Evil special gamecube pack.

I do need to get this at some point, though it worries me that it'll be my 6th RE game on gamecube

why does it worry you? It will be the BEST resident evil you have ever played. It is the resident evil you always wanted to play.....

im a big fan of resie but isnt this different to the other resie games, (much better im told) how does it play ?? similar to the other games or is it completely different??

(im looking 4 a excuse not to sell my gamecube :))

Plays different but works oh so well :)

Ill be getting this at the end of the money - my budget wont strech that far for this month after buyng new pc

played about 2 hours of it tonight, its so so so good. The way the realtime rendered cut-scenes and play flow is amazingly well done. The controls seem clumsy at first but you start to get used to them, although it still isnt easy!

This is shaping up to be the best action game i've ever played on a console, and the "action" genre encompasses a massive catalogue of games....

well it was only released on friday, and the forums are mostly PC gamer territory rather than import fiends

Ah, we think alike bunji, I've been watching this game in developement since i completed the sublime Resi 3 too many years ago, i'm gonna get it next week when i have retrieved my lovely gamecube from my uncle's house.

I honestly thought there would be a MUCH larger response to this thread than there has been.... guess it goes to show how few people actually own a gamecube.
A real shame considering the abundance of quality titles on the console.

I can't stop praising Resi 4 enough, it really is an evolution in game design and a brilliant example to other developers on how to evolve a game with the ages.

it's on my to-buy list, but i really can't afford it atm - £300 of glasses, £800 of visa bill, all in the same month... gets in the way somewhat

Any one here gone past the bit where you have to fight TWO El Giante's? I'm now in Geneva for the Easter break and left my cube @ Uni so I'll resume it when I get back. Loving MGS:3 Snake Eater right now!

i have played all of the other Residen Evil games and i thought that they were a good 2 weeks of gaming each on the hardest difficulty and no doubt but i think this one will b better than the rest so i will have to go out and buy it this weekend if i can get up some cash!!

You guys will enjoy the new control system, much better than all the other RE games for sure.

Couple tips (without ruining the game for ya of course) -

• At night do not go for headshots or you'll be sorry...well not really...but it can get hairy if you ain't too good.
• As soon as the game allows you to purchase the black tail, riot gun and broken butterfly, sell your full collection of weapons (NOT AMMO!) including the TMP if you wish and upgrade your weapons.
• Check behind portraits for cash - usually get about 5000 pestas...
• Kill level bosses for cash, always worth it - you can chicken out and make it to the exit at times but you get no reward ;)
• Try and move on to the XL case asap as well and stock a rocket launcher...
• Some items you collect such as the beerstien can have jewels set in it to increase its value when you sell it to the merchant...
• NEVER ever let your merchant get killed. He'll never reappear in that area again...

hehe resie 2 is one of my faves aswell. easily my fave of the resie games aswell :)

Who cares about the other resi games... you lot need to get your butts into gear and play resi 4.... dispicable behaviour.

:rant: Today!! I am not a happy bunny. I got out of my house this morning with the sole intention of buying this masterpiece, off into town I went and to my astonishingment every single games shop in town was closed for Easter except one; but only to be told that there were no more copies of resi 4 in stock. :rant:

I now hate Easter because of this and am looking forward to tomorrow...

P.S. Resi 4 is easily the best horror game on any console...EVER!!

Ouch that sucks!... I had mine on pre-order in the US to make sure I wouldn't miss it. I would say that RE0 was my fav until RE4 came out...but my all time fav game would probably be a tie between MGS on the Cube, RE4 and Snake Eater comming in at a very close second... ;)

Bastard! HMV's on oxford street sold out since day one and had no new stock! Trying a couple places in kensington at lunch time.

I have seen it loads of places still.... try a less obvious place.

Ok ive tried everywhere that sells computer games in... Oxford Street, Kensington, Kilburn, Camden, Liverpool street! Im having no luck what so ever so i going to have to resort to buying it online and waiting.
