Space sim
Just like flight sim but you can learn how to get a space shuttle into space and take it to a planet as well as be part of the command crew in the command center. That'd be an awesome game.

It would be too hard surely
I remember a great space game. It had a top down view and you were a bounty hunter of some description, doing work for random aliens in exchange for upgrades for your ship- cloaking devices, weaponary etc. That was great
Imagine the controllers they sell for the railway sims, what would it be like for a space shuttle
I think you'd need about 50 keyboards and 5 joysticks, get a 3 piece suite and 4 of your mates round. Bit of MDF to build a comm centre in your front room and you're away!
Then just add on top of that a few supercomputers to process the complicated physics and 100's of members of staff on stand-by to show you how to press all the buttons and you have your very own NASA Space Centre!
Steve - you mean Elite by any chance?
How 1994...

not to mention that if it was trying to be realistic.. and you wanted to fly to mars or somewhere.. you'd have a hell of a long time to wait.
No mort wasnt elite
Knoxy, descent was ace but not the one- this was some kind of rpg set in space... one of the characters looked like tuvok from star trek
Sorry about the hijak Kezzer back to chatting about beardy simulator controllers
lol, i wish someone made a proper space sim. I'll probably get the latest flight sim when i get my new system sorted out
If it's the one I think it is, then it's Solar Winds. I remeber playing that on my 386 lolOriginally Posted by steve threlfall
Frontier was excellent on the Amiga, but I heard it was buggy as hell on the PC. What's the closest contemporary equivalent game?
If I remember rightly, wasn't there a Shuttle launch model for Flight Simulator? I'm not sure whether it wasn't actually on the Amiga. Anyway, you could run the whole thing in real time, including the mating of the fuel tank and the three day roll out to the launch pad
