I tried that once so I could save a game between android and iphone. After a day or two they couldn't "verify" me and wanted me to upload my photo. They can do one. So uploaded a hand drawn picture of a stick man, they then asked for my passport lol. Obviously I didn't provide it and they locked the account.
Anyway to put it to bed, here is the FAQ
For Oculus Quest 2:
Quest 2 requires everyone to use a Facebook account to log in.
If you are an existing Oculus user and have an Oculus account, you will have the option to log in with your Oculus account and merge your Facebook and Oculus accounts.
When you log in with a Facebook account, you can still create or keep your VR profile. So you might be Monique Smith on Facebook, but WarriorMama365 in VR.
For previous generation Oculus devices, including Quest, Rift S, Rift, Go and Samsung Gear VR:
Everyone who uses a previous generation Oculus device for the first time will need to log in with a Facebook account.
If you are an existing Oculus user and have an Oculus account, you will have the option to log in with your Oculus account and merge your Facebook and Oculus accounts. You can also choose not to merge your accounts and continue using your Oculus account for two years.
You can continue using your Oculus account until January 2023, but you will not have access to social features and some new and updated features. After that, full functionality will require a Facebook account.
Re: Do you have any interest in VR?
OK, yeah that is a bit sucky :(
I\'ll probably keep the Rift S for another couple of years then. Fingers crossed by that time I\'ll be able to afford a used Index or Reverb which doesn\'t require me to sell my soul to F*ckerberg :/

I would imagine that eg thanks to all those phone contact lists FB have mined over the years they probably expect to have already heard of an email address before you sign up with it. Given the grief they have had with fake accounts I would hope they are getting at least semi decent at spotting fakes.
You could try making a photo using the AI face generator at https://artbreeder.com but ofc you need a Google account to sign in to use it ;) :D
Re: Do you have any interest in VR?
I had a go on my friends valve index earlier in the year
It's definitly super cool and was really fun as something new/different, but for me it still feels like a bit of a sort of party gimmick, maybe in the same sort of way that the wii was, in that it's fun to play a game or two but i'd still rather sit down and play games for longer on the pc
Also, I'm a glasses wearer (although don't think thats the main issue but doesn't help) and the heatset hurt quite a lot after having it on for like an hour - definitely couldnt play for too long without needing to take it off
Re: Do you have any interest in VR?
So had a bit of a read about the quest 2, if I'm planning on using it tethered I don't need to worry about storage space, so get 64gb? Tethered will it stay charged or at least prolong play time without recharge? Or does that depend on cable?
I don't currently have usb c on my case but do have usb3.2 on motherboard with USB A port on case (have a bequiet 801, looking at getting the 802 upgrade pack which has usb c, once they announce prices for it)
Is the premium head band/battery worth the extra?

I only got the 256GB version because the 64GB one was out of stock. Hardly dented the storage so far with the few games I have installed.
I have a USB A to C cable which works just fine.
The battery level does drop during use, my cable isn't enough to maintain the battery during use. But I get enough hours out of it that so far it hasn't been an issue. It seems to charge pretty fast too, and you probably should take a regular break.
I expect at some point I will get the improved strap, possibly with the battery pack. But I've spent quite enough this month :)

I've got the 64GB, installed 5 or 6 games and it has barely dropped. Most of the games are typically under a gig. Unless you want to buy a lot of overpriced games and always have them available (or keep a lot of media on it) the 64GB is more than enough.
I think USB 3.1 carries enough bandwidth to run Oculus link in its current state (at 5Mbps), technically that could go up but I don't think it's likely. So a quality USB C to USB A cable should be enough plugged in to USB 3.1.
I went and ordered the Elite strap (Amazon should have delivered it today.. grr) the tops of my cheeks and forehead get a little sore after an hour or two of use. Didn't get the one with the battery as I'm mostly tethered, DwU is right the battery levels do drop but very slowly. I think when tethered it will only charge up to 80% to preserve the battery life, it'll go to 100% when it's turned off and charged.

It says it will run off a USB 3.0 port, and grumbled at a USB 2. I tried them all when trying to diagnose what turned out to be a buggy video driver.
The Oculus program has a cable benchmark if you look under the headset device information. It seems that after a firmware upgrade, despite the headset rebooting, I needed to actually tell the thing to reboot again for it to fully work. That got me hand tracking and slightly faster USB.
Depending on port I seem to get about 2.1Gbps or 2.8Gbps, but I have yet to see the C to C cable get me any faster than the A to C could manage, and nothing like the 10Gbps that both ports and cables are supposed to be capable of.

I think mine tested at 2.9 using a C to C cable on the chassis front connector. I've since moved it to the USB-C on the motherboard rear IO port to try and not bend the connector so much, I'll run the benchmark again when I'm finished working.
Update: so I apparently have Type C 3.2 Gen 2 front and back, but I only get 2.2Gbps from the back port, maybe the cable running under the PSU is picking up interference. Oculus software still says it is fine though.
The elite strap arrived today, 50 quid for a flimsy bit of plastic. It does feel a bit better in the 20 second test I gave it, but the pressure on my cheeks and forehead is still there, maybe a need a different foam insert. Will give it a proper test this evening.
Update 2:
So after a few hours on project cars 2, which is far better in 32:9 than it is in VR (though VR is still way better than GT Sport), my review of the elite strap is.. don't bother. It's a little more comfortable round the back of the head (I used a velcro strap to attach the USB cable on the old strap, which didn't help) but I was hoping it'd relieve the weight on my cheeks and forehead, which it did not.
The luxury of the twist-to-tighten mechanism is nice, similar to PSVR in function and quicker to get "right" than the standard fabric strap, but the price is scandalous. I'd even be tempted to try a 3rd party one.
Re: Do you have any interest in VR?
I have an original Quest but tend to use what gaming time I have for traditional games on my PC. I want to try linking at some point to play Half-Life: Alyx (which I bought ages ago on sale).
Re: Do you have any interest in VR?

I think it was the same price at John Lewis, and was even when the others went up if that helps as well.
Re: Do you have any interest in VR?
I must say, the Quest 2 gets used far more stand alone than in tethered mode. I would seriously consider a 64GB model for the same price as the Rift S.
Re: Do you have any interest in VR?
Well I got a Rift S from ebay for £215 :)
