    Co-op game recommendations

Anyone got any recommendations for good coop games, released or on the horizon?

They seem few and far between these days compared to the later 360 era. Looking forward to Back4Blood and that thing that looks like a 40k version of Vermintide though.

    Re: Co-op game recommendations

    What exactly are you after?

Borderlands, Gears, Halo are all series with great coop elements.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

    Re: Co-op game recommendations

There were some suggestions made in this thread a while back:https://forums.hexus.net/pc/423672-r...d-partner.html

But yeah, depends on what you like. There's more games out there than you'd think, in different genres. Here's a few:
    • Warhammer: Chaosbane
    • Divinity: Original Sin 2 - Definitive Edition
    • Overcooked! 2
    • Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes
    • EARTH DEFENSE FORCE 5
    • Spelunky 2
    • DIRT 5
    • Gears 5
    • Broforce
    • Cook, Serve, Delicious! 3?! - and the rest of that series
    • The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+

You mention the 360 - are you specifically interested in Xbox games, or other platforms too? If you're interested in PC games, you can search on Steam for co-op capable games which will give you lots of options...

Borderlands has to be mentioned, it's the ultimate coop game IMO.

    Re: Co-op game recommendations

My top recommendation would be the Divinity: Original Sin games (1 & 2). They're top down isometric games and are by far the best co-op RPGs I've ever played. The same developer, Larian Studios, is releasing Baldur's Gate 3 next year. First game took me about 70 hours to beat, the second took around 100.

For a slightly unexpected suggestion - Ibb & Obb turned out to be a really fun co-op game. It's a platformer where you gravity goes up and down depending on which horizontal half of the screen you're in.

    Re: Co-op game recommendations

Thanks for the replies so far, my apologies, I definitely should have put more info in the original post.

Just looking for more ideas really, most often there's 3 to 6 of us (which can also mean it's hard to please everyone sometimes) and we're mostly gaming on PC. Admittedly I was too stupid to think to just search co-op on steam but that also comes up with over 4000 results and even sorted by recommended is a lot to chew through. More games like Halo and Gears with not too long co-op campaigns I think are what I quite miss and what I'd most like to find more of. We have played quite a variety of co-op stuff though including human fall flat, sea of thieves, world war Z, Heave-Ho, Helldivers and Unrailed. If anyone hasn't played those last 3 I highly recommend them. Games that have you in fits of laughter when you lose are pretty great.

Had heard good things about Divinity but don't think I'm too interested in that sort of game.
Overcooked 2 we have played some of and it's great, should really get back to that at some point.
    EDF! EDF! EDF!

Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes looks like it could be interesting, think my mates even mentioned it at one point, will have to look into it some more. Spelunky 2 could be good too, could never get very far in the original though.

I loved Borderlands 1 and 2, could never get my mates to stick with it though and things like that are probably a bit long for us these days. I also didn't care for Borderlands 3 as much.

This looks really interesting, especially nice that it has kettle doing the soundtrack, might have to see if one of them is interested to play it.

    Re: Co-op game recommendations

This is a game out of left-field and isn't technically a co-op... BUT, I reckon if someone reads out the text/letters it'll be a heck of a lot easier... especially when the words go to Latin! It called The Textorcist: The Story of Ray Bibbia. I got it on Steam when it was 90% off (and has been free on Epic in the past). Was surprisingly fun, but like I said, kept having to look down to look at the keys, as I kept making mistakes. But if someone reads the text out... also has some good music.

Here's a Giant Bomb quick look:

    ****************************
Another rhythm action game is Crypt of the Necrodancer. This can be played co-op: Nerd³ FW - Crypt of the NecroDancer

    ****************************
Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes was popular about 5 years back. Here's a video where some bomb disposal professionals try to defuse it... looks fun. Also, can be played without VR: Real Bomb Squad Defuses A Bomb In Keep Talking And Nobody Explodes • Professionals Play

Valheim is the latest hotness when it comes to multiplayer. When you say 3 to 6 players, I assume you will be playing online and not on the same screen? IF so get Valheim. There's another thread on here where we discussed it: https://forums.hexus.net/gaming/423842-valheim.html

I've also heard elsewhere that it's fun in multiplayer (I assume co-op and not PvP)

Seconding the suggestion for Valheim, it's really fun in co-op. The game is early access but there's enough content there to more than justify calling it a full release.

Not sure it will work as co-op for me and my mates online but the Textorcist certainly looks like an interesting idea I may pick up myself, only £2.75 on steam atm too.

Also when looking at that the same developer has an actual co-op game in early access called Tinkertown that looks like it could be interesting, though it is yet another survival type game, looks kinda 2d zeldaish though.

Crypt of the necrodancer I'm guessing is another that's only 2 players, couldn't see it on the steam listing, maybe I missed it. Max players is something I wish Steam would make clearer, I can't understand why it isn't clearly listed in the section on the right where it tells you a game is single player/co-op etc. I am somewhat interested in that game though, I already wanted to get the Cadence of Hyrule one at some point.

These look like good resources thanks, though a quick scroll makes it look pretty clear that I'm not just somehow missing co-op campaign games like halo and gears, there just don't seem to be many getting made in the AA space these days, let alone AAA, its all live service nonsense now and it's a bit depressing.

Haha yeah Valheim is what we're playing at the moment, rather enjoying it. I just started actually building my own house in it though and... what a faff.

Have you played Dying Light? It has a great co-op campaign that supports up to four players. Some might find it a bit repetitive, but I absolutely loved it & can't wait for Dying Light 2 to come out.

I have not, I actually didn't even realise it had co-op. Probably should have, given it's the same sort of game and same developer as Dead Island. Will definitely have to ask them about that.

Just a heads up, Humble Bundle have currently a "Better Together" sale... for I assume co-op and multiplayer games: https://www.humblebundle.com/store/p...together-sale/

I think there'll be some games there you'll be interested in @Drago MkII.

    Re: Co-op game recommendations

Certainly 1 or 2 on there, that pile up box by box looks good and while not strictly just coop, hell let loose looks like it could be a decent WW2 shooter too.

While I remember, another great co-op game series that I haven't seen mentioned are the risk of rain games, the second one in particular, lot of fun.
