    Question Halo 2..PC - Details?

    Hey,

I really enjoyed "Halo - Combat Evolved" on PC and thought it was an excellent game!.. Especially the online multiplayer games, they're great! ..

But I have tried searching for this (on the forums and web!) with no luck, all that comes up is the X-Box version!..

Soo does anyone know, or have any info whether a PC version of Halo 2 will be released?.. As I just hope it will be! Any links to sites, or general information would be great!

This would make an awesome PC game, as the first was amazing! ..IMO!

    Any information would be great..

    Thanks

    Lewis

I'd expect it to roll onto the PC well after, and I mean WELL after, it's XBox release date.

In fact, I'd even speculate that it'll be held over a bit longer than usual to accomodate the X-Box 2 launch on the 14th October... especially as there's a HALO2 X-Box tourney going on at the same time...

Delaying HALO2 would push up sales of the XB2, so it would seem like a sensible business decision, though that doesn't help with a PC version I know, but it's handy to know, eh?

Not necessarily. don't forget that HALO:Combat Evolved for the PC was essentially the 2 year old XBox game with a few tweaks... it didn't require an uber PC to play it. The current Xbox is a modest machine in terms of the components inside, so if HALO2 runs fine on that now, then there's no reason I can think of why it wouldn't run fine on a PC now either.

I can't honestly see MS re-coding the game for the PC unless there's a MAJOR technology change between now and release. It's more than likely that HALO2 will be a straight port over to PC, so system requirements aren't going to be heavy, unless they botch the port...

I'd guess at a release anytime around Summer (maybe Spring) 2006... that way HALO 2 maximises its pull on XBox2 for Xmas 2005...

In PC Zone this month (one with Band of Brothers on the front) theres a small snippet about HALO 2 on the PC in the front news pages bit. Apparently at this present time there are no plans at all to do a PC version of the game, so looks like its X Box only unfortunately.

Dooms, I'm not sure on that, it ran fine on my rig, which is by no means an uber-stomping machine... maybe I was just lucky...

Ferral, true, but you can bet your bottom dollar that there will be a PC version, just not in the near future. I wouldn't be surprised if they was news of one by this time next year.

The last thing MS will want to do is take the wind out of their XBox sales, especially XBox 2. This is pure speculation, but I reckon on Sony banging out the PS3 either just in time for Christmas or soon after with Nintendo more than likely making a Christmas showing for their console. MS aren't going to want any advantage they have slip though, which means HALO2 will stay XBox only for a fair while.

Of course, given the Sony patent case, the PS3 could be delayed until after Xmas, but I very much doubt that Sony will rebuild the entire machine to avoid paying a license for it... which they will HAVE to do for PS1, PSOne, PS2 and Dual Shock anyway.

There is an ongoing thing with the dual shock function on the PS controlers, take a look in HEXUS gaming news on the board itself for more info
