    Lego Star Wars, anyone?

Bargain at only £20 for PS2, i think its available on PC aswell but I reckon the co-op play on this and family-friendly gameplay make it a better buy on PS2. (Oh right yeah, i suppose the xbox would be alrtie aswell)

    Watch IGN's vid review:

    http://media.ps2.ign.com/media/694/694419/vids_1.html

I'm thinking of picking this up, i love the idea of that co-op feature. If anyone knows if i could get it even cheaper, bonus.

maybe im just crap at it

Co-op on PC works with 1 person on 1side of the keyboard and someone on the other.

I tried the demo. I love the way the bricks fly apart, reminds me of many Lego destruction sessions.

I really dont like it due to the controls, I prefer the old keyboard / mouse on all my games bar the racing ones where I use a pad. Visualy its really nice and a novel idea to boot, its held back by its console roots though I personally think

I'm with Ferral, got it on the PC, (for the kids, honest guv) But the control system is utterly pants & somewhat infuriating.

    Shame.

I dont understand what you guys mean by ruined by consoles

How can something with a better control system and easy setup by anyone be ruining the game?

heh not going to get into this arguement properly again, goes very OT but briefly...

Think Deux Ex 2, Everyone looking forward to a game to surpass Deux Ex, one of my favourite games. Then what happens? It gets designed for the Xbox and ported to the PC. This means: horrible UI, very simple and ugly - no where near as elagent as the one originally used in deux Ex as it had to be completely re-designed seeing as theres no keyboard for the xbox. Textures scaled down hugely due to the Xbox's minimal RAM. Maps stupidly small - worse than Half lifes - again because of the Xbox's limitations. The game simplified immensely - gone is the skill system, gone is the XP system, gone is the complex story line - all removed to make the game more 'accessable' to console gamers

Similar story with Theif 3(to a lesser degree), most driving games, and a fair few platformers

Anyway like i say this is going way OT so wont carry it on any more

The games arent ruined by consoles they are ruined by lazy developers and cheap publishers who just gives us the low quality ps2/xbox textures. This hardly applies to this game anyway as it doesnt have textures, because lego doesnt, and anyone who tries playing platform/beat em up/adventure on keyboard rather than a joypad needs a slap.

yes indeed and with good reason. Its not all consoles and all gamers though, just the majority who are - and i'm not neccesarily including anyone on hexus in this catagory - chavs and the like. Thats who sonys advertising is aimed at, same for microsofts. Thats who the majority of the games are aimed at - countless Fifa games that get worse with every incarnation, countless driving games which are almost all the same and as bad as each other.

There are very few console games that are genuinely original and fun to play, most of them are on the older consoles and the 'uncool' ones such as the gamecube...

Heh, and how stereotypical is that?

I'm a PC gamer, but I don't look down my nose at console gamers, I just think the majority of console games are pap.
