Its taken me 13 years, but I've finally done it...

.... The other week i got hold of an old Megadrive from eBay, with the masterpiece which is Sonic 2

In the time i originally played the game back in't old days, I never managed to complete the game with all the Chaos Emeralds.. until now

    Supersonic rules

    that is all... carry on

Zool wasn't really anywhere near as good as Sonic in my opinion - it was like sonic crossed with Mario. I bought a Megadrive in NZ when I was last there, but it doesn't work over here coz our TVs are different

aye - it was probably one of the best Amiga/ST platform games around. (from an ST perspective)

Super sonic rocks.. one of my favourite moments in gaming as a kid... made you feel all warm and fuzzy inside when the music hit

i'd buy an old megadrive just for streets of rage 2

But i've been told i can run it on an emulator on my phone anyhow so thats a lot more convenient and i'm short on space

Although no co-op , which was the best part

Sonic 2 better than Sonic 1? Heresy. It's a good game in the overall scheme of things, but they just went over the top with the pipes and high speeds which I guess they supposed was what everyone liked about the first one. Wrong! What I liked was the fabulous level design and the absolutely superb control- Sonic must have been the first platform game to implement momentum properly and as such was an absolute revelation to me. Just moving him about was an utter joy; that 'sit on the ground and rev yourself up' manouvre in Sonic 2 was a load of crap too IMO. The levels just got big and confusing with no linearity- try finding your way back to where you were on that oil platform level after you've done a couple of pipes....impossible.

Streets of Rage as well....the second one had the fabulous (third?) level with the alien on it, the music was just superb on that one Overall though in terms of atmosphere and control the first is far superior. In fact Streets of Rage is IMO far superior to the game it ripped off, Final Fight. I spent ages trying to procure the Mega CD of that only to find that I had the better game all along.

It is possible to get a game on the Ps2 now combining most of the sonic games...
When i got it, and played it, nostalgia hit me like a train.
    And yes, Supersonic rocks.
If you manage to get sonic & knuckles on the mega drive, you can combine it with sonic 3 and be able to get Hypersonic.
    Who rules more

I'm so with you on this - Sonic 2 really did nothing to improve the franchise, Sonic 3 at least let you play 2-player with your mate as tails

I'm pretty sure a DJ ripped off some of the music from Streets 2 and stuck it in a Dance track Anyway, I've still got my old Sega and the only 2 games that I play on it are Sonic 1 and Street of Rage 2. My favourite character in the latter being the ninja (last but one boss) - who sounds like he's saying "Why no Grass"
If it ain't broke, fetch a bigger hammer
