    Knights of the Temple

Ferral haslent me this game, knowing my love of Severance, Bladeof Darkness, and what a suprise it is

First of all it's 3rd person, and it's taking me, truth be told, a long time to get into the camera angles. I have vague control of them, but I can't contro WHERE thecamera is mounted, SO sometimes I am walking my character forward, who CAN see, but I CANT!! cos the camera is reversing up the passageway.

Which SHOULD make me angry....but wierdly, is just scares the crap ouuta me instead, and it is very very excting

It looks just gorgeous. Flickering flames and stoney corridors , with evil dudes hidden (in plane view to my man, and out of eye sight of ME the controller)

    and there aint no mouse!!!

It's all keys which MEANS I might nip round to Nicks and steal a game pad, cos this would be ace with that

Will attempt to take some screenies OR a film soon...you lot gotta see this

Oh...cheesey intro....I shall join the Knights to Avenge my father....blah blah...dreadfull intro that looks WORSE than the game

    But truly exciting music.

ok..have played this for a few weeks now and I have to say....

the bugger is growing on me in a big way

the loss of viewpoints that I suffer from because it is a 3rd person viewpoint with little camera control is starting to become an essential part of the atmosphere of the game!

I know that sounds weird, but when I cant' see the monsters, but my character can...I can HEAR them yowl, and scream..but I cant see where they are...it sets the goosebumps going a treat

And on we go to weapons and skills

Ferral was right to offer this game to me as a logical progression from Severance, Blade of Darkness, because in the same way, as the characters skill increases, the combo's do too, AND the ability of the player is then called into the game.

The combo's are easy to remember, they simply involve two keys in a series of taps...but the TIMING is crucial. Blocking and then attacking....running in and backing off added to this. Bugger...I like this.

And the music is getting better..its not winding me up after many many hours, so THATS good, and the lighting is good too. Infact, the graphics are superb in many respects.

The tasks are very simple....very simple indeed, so pull this lever, pick up this keym use in that lock..onward.

Which leaves time for hacking, slashing, and frankly....riposting There is no shortage of health for your character, so you don't die too much, BUT the hard monsters are NAILS!

So while its easy to take apart a few bad guys, once surrounded, its sword skill, blocking and good timing on your attacks.

I'm gonna stick my neck out further still and say....I sold Riddick and kept this game to play. Because I will keep going back to this. It's gonna take along time to finish, at my slow pace, BUT I can just pick it up and go again...and again...and again.

With good headphones and a dark room it is a good game. Not a great game, but I;d score it at a 5/10

And lets face it....if I'd got 50% in all my A Levels, I'd have more certificates than I do

If you are a fan of sword games, adventuring and dungeoneering.....single player...with a moderate PC (will run on a P4 2gig and 512 with a Radeon 9000 easily) you're flying.

    Severence is the daddy.

The ability to pummel opponents with their own limbs is quite amuzing and the whole "conan the barbarian" feel is quite eery as well.

Love Severance myself, great game, they were supposed to be doing a follow up but it has never appeared though unfortunately.

My personal favourite is Enclave however (PC version only ! ) Played it through a few times and it gets better everytime I play, another thing I like about this is that once you finish the light scenario you can play through the dark one giving it even more playability, Its the only game that has come really close to Severance the past few year.

yeah...Severance was a better game EXCEPT that the controls were still not entirely intuitive. Good yes....but not perfect.
