Well, factor in the memory stick, and the PSP becomes an expensive music player alternative to the HD5 although it can do the role i suppose. And of course, you'll get a lot more multimedia features and fun out of a PSP.

How are you going to get one? Import? Price?

Only con i know of is battery life, and thats fixed with one or two spares

I havent seen a PSP other than on tv or magazine ads, but I was thinking the things that are missing in PSP...DVD capability and future upgrade possibilities to like HD or Blu-ray, compatibility with PS1 and PS2 games. Oh yeah WPA enabled wireless security for net surfage...if the PSP had these things man it would be like an all in 1 travellers companion thingy! I mean with that I can listen to mp3s on dvd and memory stick, also I can watch movies on a loooong international flight, game and so on...hehe I guess kind of wishful thinking on my part!

If the PSP had those things then it would also be a highly unsuccesful PORTABLE device. I mean, if anything its already big enough, imagine a CD-sized optical drive slapped on the back

You should get a laptop , they make great 10" ones now with built-in optical drives and crazy battery life. Worth the £1k price tag if you ask me.

As for everyone else, just get a nice 1GB memory stick and you can store a ton of video and some MP3 that'll see most people through. No need for DVD

There has been reports that a few people thats ordered a PSP from Lik-sang has been stung with £50 import tax, so its up to you.

I know many people in Asia that has one, and battery life is not an issue at all. Even after watching a full length movie, they can still get a few hours of gameplay off it.

pfft just buy your HD5 already, and then get a DS..

Do you really want to risk getting your package inspected by customs? Do you really want the massive risk of your PSP being one of the hundreds of thousands that have dead pixels or dust inside the screen? DO you really want to be the envy of chavs all around you by buying the chavviest mobile device around?

DS has many better games, 4 hrs extra battery life, compatability with all GBA games... HD5 has better audio capability

On the subject of Psp's, i've been searching the forums for places where to import from but haven't found much apart from Lik Sang. Are they the cheapest? Would like to get the Psp value pack with Wipeout Pure and Ridge racers.

The only problems with lik sang is sometimes you get import tax. But they are cheapest andthey sell jap PSPs which are region2. The problems with dogy buttons dust dead pixels have gone basically, they have been fixed.

Import tax may cost you £50 but its likely u want be charged.

    Just get one hehe

Even if you get stung import (Which is a low chance) Youll only be paying 185, thats 5 quid extra to have one now, as opposed to waiting 4 months

    DS has many better games
I don't want to start a retarded DS vs. PSP debate, but according to the reviews it's the PSP which has the better games.

A website called GameTab collates all of the online reviews together and takes an average score.

The top 10 DS games range in average score from 85% (Mario 64 DS) to 69% (Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005).

The top 10 PSP games range in average score from 92% (Wipeout Pure) to 79% (Metal Gear Acid).

That's about as scientific a study of which system has the better games I can find, and it comes out very much in favour of the PSP. Of course, it all comes down to a matter of taste in the end though.
