    Unhappy GT4 disappointment :(

    GT4 has let itself down
It was possible with GT3 play a LAN game using 2 consoles, 2 game discs, 2 TV's and an i-link cable, and it was ace! Basically a 2 Player game, but without having the irritation of having a split-screen.

This weekend, we were all set to do the same thing with GT4, not even imagining for a second that there would be an issue with it, but were very disappointed to discover that using an i-link is no longer possible What a nightmare!!
It seems that the only way around it is to have a Network Adaptor in both consoles, which is a bit daft if it's only going to be played that way once in a while.

Looks as though we may have to revert back to GT3 now...

I've had a lot of sobering thoughts in my time.... It was them that started me drinking.

    Aye, GT4 is cack.
    Racing = cack
    AI = cacky cack cack
Physics = cack on a stick
Graphics = nice models, but very low cack res textures.

The GT brand has gone a game too far now. Sony should have put a bullet in it after GT3.
They'll carry on making them simply for the stupid amount of money they bring in.

The rolling starts were kinda funny, especially when you had a monster of a car, your car would crash into the car infront before you even got started....

The graphics are awesome, shame its soo repetative and boring

Considering the breadth of things that you can drive and the trypes of events that you can do it is the best game on the market. Of course other racing games that are more specialised will have better graphics or physics for certain types of situations. But they won't let you drive a Model T Ford around Laguna Sega one minute and then a TVR Speed 12 round Sarthe the next.

The anoying bit is having to do loads of races to get enough money to buy cars to do other races. But then again Final Fantasy is that way except that it is fighting monsters over and over again to collect items etc.

As Sair says the real dissapointment is the lack of I-link which was great for one on one racing with your mates. The Lan set-up is a pain as you can get frame-rate issues and it doesn't like starting up. It also suffers the same issue as the I-link in that it works on Arcade mode physics. But sometime your not so worried about that as it it just about a bit of fun with a few beers

One can only hope that they get their act in gear for GT5 on the PS3, and include some new features to the game plus beef up the AI.
If it ain't broke, fetch a bigger hammer

GT4 is... boring. End of story.

    MGS3 is... boring.

    San Andreas is... a mess.

    Very disapointed with the PS2.

Pikmin on the GameCube on the other hand... genius.

Just goes to show that Nintendo still rule all when it comes to game design.

This is mostly due to the fact that network connections have become much more popular and useful than i.link

Sony have dropped firewire on the later PS2 models and the new slim PSTwo only has USB.

So its actually the only good choice for them to have made use of the network connection, especially since the PSTwo has it built-in, and GT4 was the main game sold with it.

All that the fans asked for was GT3 with more cars and tracks, Polyphony delivered. They did exactly what was asked of them

They say GT5 will introduce damage and better racing AI.

Most people don't realise the GT series is not for gamers, its for car enthusiasts.

play GTR/rFactor/LFs and come back and say that.

GT4 is a chavvy arcade game. The introduction of NOS into the game was the final nail. What honest 'driving simulator' has nitrous? NOS is the scorching lightbulb to the chavscum moth.
Don't get me wrong, i loved the first 3 games, but its now become about simply driving x car around y track for z laps until you win 123 amount of cash. And the repeat ad nauseum.
When was the last time in GT4 you ever had a close finish of a race? When was the last time you had to push really hard to beat the AI?
I know its was a fair while ago for me.

7 years of hearing that tends to make you a bit cynical. Replace the 5 with a 2. Then a 3. And now a 4. Give it a few years and it'll be a 6.

I have never liked any of the GT series. Just has such a sterile, plastic feel to it, if you know what i mean. No damage and banging of walls with no real impact on you race. GT is the chav's chioce of racer if you ask me (well thats need for speed actually).

GT4 was alright for a quick blast, every so often i will give it a go, but the problem was i got GTR on day of release and it destrroyed GT4, GTR is on all the time if i fancy a bit of racing

One thing I really love about GT4 is the photo mode, which a few of us put the photo's in a thread somewhere round here, some very nice pics

Nintendo my big fat hairy behind - a couple of short fat dodgy italian plumbers don't make a good game. I'd rather play with a amphetamine addicted blue hedgehog Even crash bandicoot was more fun and he's had one too many doses of electro-shock therapy.

Granted playing with a monkey and his balls is fun - but only when you've had a few beers.

Gaming hasn't moved on since the BBC 'B' - nothing can compare to classic titles like; JCB Digger, Elite and Repton 2

lmao......and I LIKE Mario and Luigi....but fact is....

I WANTED A LAN ON GT4 like I got with GT3...with zero effort...

    and I got NOWT

which sadly doesn;t make me a Chav....though I do lust after a Nova with Burberry paintwork

Seriously though.....GT3, it will be, the next time Auran pops over for a weekend of beating me to death with a Skyline.....

    sad but true

Nintendo is poo, hence the gamecube failed miserably despite bing a great deal cheaper than the xbox or the ps2.

Their games are the most shallow and unabsorbing ever, with only 1 or 2 games that ever stood out, i used to have an N64. Goldeneye and Perfect Dark were the only games that I ever thought were "good" and that developer has gone to X-Box with Perfect Dark 2 being one of the release titles for the xbox 360.

The games are ok for very quick bursts but I dont want to pay for a game that cant hold my attention longer than 20 minutes.

PC's are not the ideal gaming platform, but the games are of such a higher quality in design that its easily the best. The X-Box has the same people doing games for it as the PC, and that shows in titles like Halo, as there is real thought behind the game.

PS2 has a few titles that shone out, but i ve been dissapointed with that on the whole as well, with only GT3, GTA3 (NOT vice city, i thought that was dull) and Tony Hawks 3 keeping my interest.

Anyway i know a few people that love the gamecube and nintendo games .. but I just dont get it, i think you have to come from the coin-op school of gaming to really get into Nintendo games.
