Long Term Xbox, PS2 and Cube Owners Please...

Right, I'll probably be getting all 3 next-next-next-next-next gen consoles, and I notice that the Revolution and PS3 are both, in slightly different ways, backwards compatable (PS3 by using the game discs of previous Sony consoles, Nintendo via a download service and accepting Cube games), and I'm sure the Xbox 360 will have some feature as well.

So, all I need is a list of say, 5, classic games for the Cube, PS2 or Xbox, that everyone who can play them should. The games should be fun, easy to pick up and have a blast on, but deep enough to get into. Just the 'must play' games on the system really.

Keep the lists to 5, and don't bother posting if you haven't got the time to write a few lines telling me why that game should be played.

So, your lists of 5 must-play PS2, GameCube and Xbox games (with reasoning) please...

    Cube:

Super Monkey Ball - Ultimate challenging fun
SUper Smash Bros Melee - Multiplayer goodness, great laugh with mates
Time Splitters 2 and/or 3 - Great games, brilliant for multiplayer, and absolutly hilarious
Donkey Konga and Jungle Beat - Only worth it if the bongo's will work with the revolution, but theyre awesome games
    Pirates = Win.

    My top 5 PS2 games.

    Grand Theft Auto III:
Fantastic, great if you like just running around killing people, or if you like mission, great long game, and still my favourite of the GTA series.

    Kingdom Hearts:
Don't let Disney put you off, great game. Action RPG at it's best, halloween town, Jack Skellington, hitting things with a giant key. It's all good.

Jak And Daxter: The Precurser Legacy:
Brilliant, platformer, all you need for a fun game.

    Tony Hawks Underground;
Good game, not for everyone though. Skating around and doing things to random music..

    Red Faction:
Old, but one of my favourites. First game I got for my PS2, Geo Modding and destroying everything is still fun on multiplayer!

    Gamecube :

Legend of Zelda : Windwaker. Superb animation and storytelling how it should be, game sucks you in once you get to grips with the controls and doesnt let go. Bosses are huge and look amazing.

Metroid Prime : Who would have thought good old Metroid would be back sporting first person instead of what I thought may happen a 3rd person game similar to Tomb Raider etc. Big guns, even bigger bosses, superb control system. Once again draws you in. Finally, its harder to get lost on this one unlike previous Metroid games !

Luigis Mansion : Looks and plays fantastic, some excellent special effects for one of the first Cube titles. Gets a little repetetive at times and is not overly long. But what is there is quality gaming that can be picked up for next to nothing now.

Resident Evil 0 : How it all began, set before the events in Racoon city, Capcom takes you on a wild fearful ride as you explore various locations. In my opinion, one of the best looking survival horror games out there.

Mario Sunshine : Mario is back, bigger and brighter than ever. Hours of gameplay to be had here chasing down an evil Mario clone (Shadow Mario). Some beautiful locations and playability that keeps bringing you back for more and trying to get every single Shine Sprite (my other half must have put at least 60 hours into this already and she is now right at the end of the game with very nearly every Shine in the game ! )

Pikmin is the game where you control a little bloke (Captain Olimar) and you have to use these little ant type creatures, called Pikmin, to attack bigger creatures, solve puzzles, collect food, etc.

It is typical Nintendo genius that shows up the likes of FIFA Clone #76 and Super Wrestling Punch Car Skate Fight 17 for what they are - games to appeal to the mindless chav and his crap hat wearing friends.

    Only got a PS2:

    1) Pro Evolution Soccer 4 (By far and away the best series of football games ever)
    2) Grand Theft Auto: Vice City OR Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (Vice City is smaller and probably better for a quick blast, San Andreas is just HUGE)
    3) Rez (Rez + huge tv and speakers = home clubbin' heaven)
    4) Ico (stunningly sutble)
    5) Dancing Stage Megamix

Great cross-platform games: Burnout 3, Soulcalibur 2, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time

    Cube -

Mario Sunshine - Its a mario game! Great fun to play, easy to get lost in

Zelda Windwalker - despite the HORRIBLE cell shading in it its a surprisingly deep game with plenty of puzzels and action combined. Well worth it, especially if you find the Final Fantasy series as *yawn* boring and drawn out is i do (see http://www.weebl.jolt.co.uk/ff7.htm , its very accurate )

Pikmin - Yet another example of pure nintendo originality, hard to describe how good this game is when you get into it, especially if you like strategy games

Smash Bros - My fav beat'em up accross any console, 4 way frantic action, great fun with 3 other mates to play with. Its like tekken, but better. Much better Single players good too with plenty of characters and extra arenas to unlock

Mario Tennis - Sounds boring i know, but really its not, especially (like with 90% of nintendo's games) with a mate or 2 round. A variety of game modes to occupy you (standard, ring, item), plenty of tournaments and characters to unlock. You will probably get bored of the single player but the multiplayer never gets old

bleh thats 5, didnt even have time to mention metroid prime, timesplitters2, MARIO KART, mario golf, mario party, resident evil 0, rogue squadred2 etc etc etc

jet set radio future - stylish and innovative, bold art design and good fun to boot.
halo 2 - online is fun, even if I die very often
panzer dragoon orta - 3rd person flying shooter (on rails). nice.
soul calibur 2 - my favourite 3d beatemup (i prefer the cube's link to xbox's spawn though)

    well I havea gamecube,

Im surprised to see nobody has mentioned resident eveil 4 yet!

Im playing it atm and I am no resident evil fan but this one is GREAT!!!

so Id say (staying away from cross platform games, because the likes of soul calibur 2 was class on every platform)

    1. Resident evil 4 - I just love the claustraphobic over the shoulder view, excelent gfx and sound, gameplay is spot on as well.

    2. Super monkey ball 1/2 - pure classic multiplayer action, monkey target was my favorite game by a mile.

    3. Super Mario Kart : Double Dash - great in single player even more fun in multi player, best mario kart experience yet imo.

    4. Pikmin - pure mental, highly original game nothing else like it.

    5. Viewtiful Joe - Loved this game even though I dont own it one of my mates does, it is a nice throwback to the old 2D beat em up days but the gameplay feels unique. (this is one I need to buy next time im making an order from play.)
