Well said Directhex, but it's not just about the games. Look at all the performance PC hardware nuts (me included i guess). Thats about the machine and not just games. The only way people can expalin buying all that kit and modding and overclocking it is for game performance. But it is the enjoyment of the game that really counts yes.
This is going around in circles anyhow.
Now, Ghost's And Goblins on the Meagdrive. There was a great game alright. Time for a bit of MAME i think
Not really.but writing off an entire platform because it's "for kids" or somesuch is childish and idiotic. especially the instant discussions of graphics appear.
Console games 99% of the time have the complexity of a 3yr olds toy.
PC does not cost that much more than consoles overall. If you buy a lot of games for each platform, the pc will eventually be cheaper. Console games can cost 2x more than on the pc.
The console market is bigger, mostly becuase of the marketing techniques used by console manufacturers - consoles being much cheaper, but the games being much more expensive. With half of the game cost playing for the console - which doesnt happen with pc games.
Pc games usually last a lot longer, for example I still play counterstrike, which is maybe 7+ years? old now (seems like it. Its atleast 5.). I have spent more hours in counterstrike than most people have spent playing on all of there consoles put together.
Consoles will always be preferable for chavs, because they are cheap and take the brain of a 3year old to operate...
Consoles are getting more like pc's and I think tech will start moving faster, but at uthe same time games will slow down becuase as the tech gets more complex it requires more money to make the games.
As for next-gen consoles, pc's can do all they can do already. With options turned down they will run on all old gfx cards like 9500np which costs maybe £30 from retek and still look better than anything a ps2 could do.
New hardware costs an exponetial amount more than old hardware.
