Seeing as myself, SteveA and Monkey are all part of the newly formed NFF team and have been to a few LAN parties now it seems we have the LAN bug truely.
So... heres a poll to see if any of you Hexus gamers are lanners or not![]()

I'm surprised people still bother with LAN parties considering most avid PC gamers have broadband connections these days. But I guess actually being there with you're friends drinking beer, eating pizza and having a laugh is more than enough of an excuse to go. At least it gives some relief to your fingers with the endless typing hehe.

As for LAN's - My first one was infact ACON5 and I had a cracking weekend, got wasted and basically carried on from there.
Next time I go to the 1 @ Uttoxeter race course I'll be getting the Pizza numbers and kebab numbers before I go.

Went to a proper "this is our Quake clan" one about 7 years ago. It was very cool.
Then at uni we occassionally got 4-8 people around for a more relaxed "play games all day, down the pub in the evening" kind of affair. Co-op Operation Flashpoint was a favourite.
Being able to properly talk and discuss team-tactics makes the games so much more enjoyable.
Went to Multiplay's i7 and i8 and a few much smaller lans. They rock. Not done any lanning recently though.

In this country, broadband doesn't really exist (Unless you call 512kb ADSL with a 3 GB cap that's roughly 10 times more expensive than the same in the US or the UK, "broadband") so LAN parties are very popular, to the point that there are a couple of groups that hold a LAN every month. Most are run and organized by gamers, with little, if any sponsorship. Of those I've been to, people typically don't drink; the CS players are usually rather noisy anyway.Originally Posted by e-LAN-go

every couple of months some mates back in bristol organise one, there's usually about 15 of us. i love it, its what got me into games in the first place! wicked atmosphere. its called quake and curry, we drink loads of cider and eat super hot curry for 3 days, talk **** and play loads of games! feckin brilliant.
