    Game cube stuff

    Hi

Last week i got a gamecube for my birthday from uni mates. But having been out of the loop on console related things for a while i dont really know what games/memory cards to get.

    So;
    1) what would be your suggested games? single player as well as multiple player.
    2) What size memory card is best?
    3) Where is cheapest place to get this stuff, controllers, memory card, games?

    Thanks guys

    DONKEY KONGA!

cant stress that enough, you play it on bongo's. absolutly hysterical if you get more than one set, lots of people playing along together. best game on it imo

super monkey ball is a good one, but you need a gentle puzzly touch

super smash bros melee is THE best multiplayer game, good for long time players and button mashers

mario tenis (good multiplayer) , tales of symphonia (the longest, most twisty plot rpg EVER), and timesplitters 3 (good, lighthearted and funny firstplayer, perfect dark style multiplayer) are toehr of note. oh, and mario kart double dash

Edit: best place for cheap stuff is second hand from places like game station and game. cheap memory card and controllers (both unofficial) can be found at argos or mvc. the unofficial controllers arnt as good as official ones but are about 1/5th the price

    1) single: 1080 avalanche, f-zero gx, zelda wind waker, pikmin, prince of persia 1 & 2, metroid prime 1 & 2, all six resident evil games. multiple: super monkey ball 1 & 2, smash bros, soul calibur 2, pikmin 2

    2) get a 251 block card or larger. should last you fine - some games have huge saves that will fill 1 card, you'll be left out with a 59 block card

    3) i cannot stress this enough: ONLY BUY OFFICIAL PERIPHERALS. they might cost more, but the difference is staggering. this isn't the difference between a £20 PC Chips motherboard and a deluxe DFI, it's ten times that

Aswell as most of the games said above... How about the resident Evil games? 0,1,2,3,4!

    PIKMIN! - good singleplayer fun!

Also i completly agree with Directhex, Memory cards you can get away buying unoffical (they just normaly look fing ugly) but i have yet to find a good 3rd Party controller for any console (even going back to mastersystem & nes)

    Zelda isnt a platform game.

Basically any of the games Direct Hex said, my current favourite is Resident Evil 4 though, bloody great.
Oh and Super Monkey Ball 1 has better mini games for playing after copious drinks

    like Direct Hex says...

BUY REAL NINTENDO STUFF>...not copy stuff.
Real controller....real mem card ONLY REAL.

Most of the games need some control, some level of accuracy to the controler, and NOTHING is worse than crap controllers.

    My votes are:

    Monkey Ball
    Luigi's Mansion (long but excellent)
Metroid Prime (really amazing but hard as it progresses)

Game Cube is a revelation for fun..real fun....total immersion laughs

It will make you smile everytime you turn it on and its booted in 3 seconds

    Thanks for the replies guys.

Im heading into town now to see if i can find anything of interest. Ill let you know what i pick up. I reckon im just going for second hand games. £40 for a game is a little much i think.

And i know what you mean about the controllers, i made that mistake once with the N64, never again. Guess ill just have to splash out.

I think you meant very short. But yes the Gamecube gives you stuff so different to things you get on any other platform

Right guys, after a trip to town i didnt fine anything that i wanted to spend my money. So i thought i would look at amazon/play

Just about to order: zelda:wind waker, offical 251 memory card, black official controller (all from amazon) and super monkey ball (from play)

hhm....i shouldnt really be spending £66 on game cube stuff, when i have £130ish to my name unitl the end of term. lol, ah well

So shall i go ahead and order or do you reckon there is a better single player game than zelda?

Alternatively, ignore some of the above advice and go for a Logic 3 64Mb memory card, works fine, looks good, has lots of space and is as good as Nintendo.
Noname brands may be crap, but to completely rule out all third party peripherals and accessories is nothing short of silly - though nintendo probably love you for it nonetheless

Also given your budget, i'd go on ebay - zelda can be had for around a tenner, and official controllers often go for £10 or less.

If you prefer guns and violence get Resident Evil 4, if you like swords, boomerangs and sailing get zelda.
